The idea of a pickup truck being quicker than the new 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is both exciting and terrifying. Advances in technology have opened up a whole new world for automakers. For the right price, drivers can purchase pickup trucks that are quicker than performance sedans and coupes.

The Raptor trim emerged back in 2009 as the Ford F-150 Raptor SVT. The first Raptor was a performance truck that excelled at drag racing. Today, the Raptor has evolved into an off-road pickup truck that also happens to be incredibly quick.

The Raptor R is the quickest of the F-150 Raptor models thus far. Its main rival is the Ram 1500 TRX. The TRX is a capable truck that is powered by the mighty Hellcat engine. Ford’s Raptor wasn’t nearly as powerful as the TRX until the Blue Oval finally unleashed the Raptor R.

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is impressive. It uses a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine that makes 700 horsepower. The Raptor R may be a force to be reckoned with, but another truck exists that makes the new Raptor model almost look average.
