Forza Horizon 5 Keeps Updating Its Cars, and Fans Aren’t Happy
Forza has done a top-notch job of capturing a loyal base of car and video game enthusiasts. Forza’s Horizon series allows players to pilot everything from cutting-edge Rimac hypercars to Ken Block’s Hoonicorn Mustang in locales like Scotland and Mexico. However, Horizon 5 is getting older, and the only way the designers at Forza can keep the game relevant is to update it with new challenges and cars like the Lamborghini Sian. Unfortunately, many of the recent additions have fans fuming.
What is new in the Forza update?
Forza’s latest update for January 2023 includes a “FORDzathon” series, new events, and new cars, including the 2021 MG MG6 XPower and the 2010 Renault Megane RS250. However, these two cars are among the reasons why fans are unhappy.
In the case of the MG and Renault, they’re the latest in the underwhelming additions to Forza’s expansive library of cars. A cursory visit to Forza’s Instagram page reveals a veritable tsunami of comments and requests for more exotic or classic cars. Furthermore, much of the feedback on the Instagram page includes inquiries about why Forza would involve an MG instead of a more high-performance vehicle.
After all, the MG MG6 XPower is a hybrid vehicle with 300 horsepower and a 0 to 60 mph time of around 6.0 seconds. That’s hardly a competitor for a Lamborghini Sian or a C8 Corvette.
What new cars are coming to Forza Horizon 5?
In addition to the 2021 MG MG6 XPower and the 2010 Renault Megane RS250, Forza added multiple cars for the fifteenth and sixteenth series update, including the 2020 Lamborghini Sian Roadster.
Here are some of the cars that the fifteenth series update included:
- 2021 Cupra UrbanRebel Concept Vehicle
- 2020 Lamborghini Sian Roadster
- 2013 Cadillac XTS (Limo)
- 1971 AMC Javelin AMX
- 1970 AMC Rebel
- 1958 Plymouth Fury
Moreover, the January Series 16 update includes another group of new cars:
- 2021 MG MG6 XPower and 2020 XPower #20
- 2016 Renault Clio R.S. 16 Concept
- 2010 Renault Megane RS 250
- 2010 Renault Clio R.S.
However, not all of these vehicles are welcome additions to the Horizon 5 garage. For instance, the social media reception for the 2013 Cadillac XTS, a limousine, could have been more optimal. Instead, users continued to request cars from Audi, Chevrolet, Toyota, and Alfa Romeo. Moreover, fans were quick to cite that the XTS Limo is a recycled car from Horizon 4, the previous Scotland-based iteration.
When was the last Forza Horizon 5 update?
The fifteenth series Forza Horizon 5 update went live in December 2022. Moreover, the series 16 update went live in January 2023. According to Windows Central, the sixteenth series update is the latest update.
Is Forza Horizon 5 worth it?
Despite the disappointment among fans regarding some of the latest cars, Forza Horizon 5 is one of the most versatile mainstream open-world racing games on the market. Also, Forza adds cars continuously, so for every disappointing addition, a better vehicle could be on the way.
