We have a four-peat to celebrate. The 2022 Ram 1500 has defeated the Ford F-150 as the best truck for the fourth time in a row. Even with the upgrades that the 2021 Ford F-150 includes, it still doesn’t hold a candle to the unmatched quality of the Ram 1500. 

The 2022 Ram 1500 dominates the Ford F-150 again 

We’re not sure if the 2022 Ram 1500 has enough space to haul its boatload of awards. Seriously, it’s the most awarded pickup truck, putting the Ford F-150 to shame. The Ram 1500 was remodeled for 2019, and its updates are still blowing critics away. 

The Ram 1500 landed on the Car and Driver 10-Best Vehicles list for the fourth year in a row. It’s also the third year in a row where it’s the only truck on the list. So, what’s going on with Ford and Chevy? They’ve had plenty of time to take the Ram down a notch. 

What’s so great about the 2022 Ram? 

Car and Driver rates every vehicle they test based on how well it performs based on what it’s designed to do. The vehicle’s value and how compelling it is to drive are also included in the evaluation. 

The annual awards cut through an extremely crowded market with over 300 cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans to determine 10 options that live up to their purpose while delivering incredible value and a great driving experience. 

They have been doing this for 40 years! Vehicles can hold their spot on the list year after year. So the vehicles honored aren’t only based on what’s new, but what’s best. Also, the base-price cutoff is $90,000. 

Sharon Silke Carty, Editor-in-Chief of Car and Driver, shared that while making the list for a fourth consecutive year and the third consecutive year as the only pickup truck, the Ram 1500 continues to be shockingly quiet and is still hands-down the best driving pickup truck. 

She continued to explain that there’s a great breadth to the lineup. Every model accomplishes any task thrown at it. They really appreciate all the work the Ram team has done to make it enjoyable to drive.

Why is the F-150 behind? 

It sounds like the 2022 Ram 1500 is the best truck because it has the best ride quality. It handles large road impacts with ease and has a quiet interior. Also, it’s crafted high-quality materials. 

According to Car and Driver, one of the first things you see about the Ford F-150 is that the ride isn’t as smooth as its key rival. The Ram 1500 is viewed as the more comfortable truck because the F-150 seats lack side bolstering. 

But the F-150 has plenty of excellent features to consider, such as the interior workspace, Max recline seats, hybrid powertrain, power onboard generator, and best-in-class towing capacity. It just needs to work on comfort and ride quality to take the champ down.
