If you’re thinking of hitting the open road to see North America’s breathtaking sights behind the wheel of a Class A RV, you may have some questions. With the price of fuel on the rise, one of those questions is probably “How can I find the most fuel-efficient Class A RV?” The good news is RV Trader recently highlighted its picks for the most fuel-efficient Class A RVs. A fuel-efficient engine isn’t the only reason you should check out these RVs, either.   

The Forest River Berkshire Class A RV topped the list

Topping RV Trader‘s list of fuel-efficient Class A RVs is the Forest River Berkshire. Featuring a 100-gallon fuel tank and up to 12.5 mpg, the Berkshire can travel across the country with only a few fuel stops. In addition, the fuel-sipping 6.7-liter Cummins ISB turbo diesel delivers 360 horsepower at 2600 rpm and 800 lb-ft of torque at 1800 rpm.

With a front living area, centrally located kitchen and bathroom, a rear main bedroom, and three slide-outs, your family will have enough space to get comfortable whenever you decide to stop, too. Additionally, the Berkshire sleeps up to seven people and has four televisions and a fireplace for those times you’d rather stay inside the camper.

The Holiday Rambler Navigator also made the cut

The Holiday Rambler Navigator features a 340 horsepower Cummins ISB turbocharged 6.7-liter diesel engine with 10.6 mpg. The Navigator also has a 100-gallon fuel tank but, with the lower fuel economy, would likely need an additional fuel stop compared to the Berkshire to complete a cross-country trip. According to RV Trader, the Navigator is easy to drive and offers “excellent handling on the road.” 

The Navigator’s interior is “stylish and spacious” with up to four slide-outs, three televisions (plus one outside), and an available fireplace. The main bedroom features a 43″ LED television, a large wardrobe and dresser, and an articulating king-size bed. 

The Newmar Dutch Star Class A RV gets 11 mpg

The Newmar Dutch Star uses a 450 horsepower Cummins 8.9-liter L model engine with 1,250 lb-ft of torque. This Class A RV gets 11 mpg and is backed by a six-speed automatic Allison transmission. With a standard 100-gallon fuel tank, you’ll likely have to stop for lunch before you need fuel on travel days. 

The good news is that you’ll have everything you need to make lunch, get some rest overnight, or settle in for weeks when you stop. In fact, this Class A RV features up to four slide-outs and provides a spacious interior equipped with hi-tech entertainment systems, an available fireplace, and luxurious finishes. Some models feature the main suite with a king-size RV bed, private bathroom, and a centrally located restroom too.

The Thor Palazzo 33.5 is the most fuel-efficient Class A RV

The Thor Palazzo 33.5 gets the best fuel mileage of any Class A RV on our list, with up to 13 mpg. The Palazzo 33.5 uses a smaller 90-gallon fuel tank than the other Class A RVs on our list but achieves up to 1.170 miles between fuel stops. The Palazzo 33.5 features the least powerful 300-hp Cummins ISB 6.7-liter diesel engine on our list, which likely explains the increased fuel efficiency. 

The Palazzo 33.5’s interior space is smaller than the other RVs on our list, with only two slide-outs. However, the main living space slide-out involves the entire wall from behind the driver’s seat to the main bedroom. In addition to an inclining queen-size bed in the master, the Palazzo 33.5 features bunk beds, a jackknife sofa, and an overhead bunk to provide sleeping quarters for up to nine people.
