The 2021 Infiniti QX80 costs less than other large luxury SUVs to own

If you’re really doing your homework, you’re also taking into account how much your luxury SUV will depreciate, and comparing vehicles to one another to see which hold their value best. 

Kelley Blue Book has done this homework for you already, and they’ve determined that the 2021 Infiniti QX80 is your best bet. If you don’t want to lose a whole lot of money on a huge investment like buying a new luxury SUV, you can’t go wrong with the QX80. It will only cost you $90,014 to own for five years. Sure, it’s a lot of money, but it’s $10,914 less than other full size luxury SUVs in its class. 

Of course, this number will vary based on which trim level you buy. If you opt for the base trim, you’ll pay an initial purchase price of about $69,050. The Premium Select trim will cost you $73,350. And the most expensive 2021 Infiniti QX80 will set you back $80,200. Still, any of these trim levels offer you a good deal.

How does Kelley Blue Book determine the five-year cost of ownership?

You already know that how much you pay for your car when you first buy it makes up a huge portion of what you’ll pay for your vehicle over the course of five years. Still, it isn’t the only factor. Is the 2021 Infiniti QX80 worth it?

The 2021 Infiniti QX80 has a V8, 400-hp engine and can tow up to 8,500 pounds. When you combine that with its passenger capacity (some QX80 configurations can seat up to 8), it seems like the full size Infiniti is worth it. 

However, it is worth noting that the NHTSA crash test ratings are mixed. Although the QX80 gets four stars overall, it only gets two stars for the front driver side frontal crash rating. The front passenger side only gets three stars. Side crash ratings are good, while the rollover ratings are three stars for both 2WD and 4WD.
