The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq is among the most reliable hybrid cars. Though its price is higher than its gas-powered counterparts’ MSRPs, it isn’t expensive for a hybrid. In addition, the Ioniq performs well, offers plenty of space for a compact hatchback, and gets excellent gas mileage. However, for shoppers with the money to splurge, every Hyundai Ioniq version — hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric — offers plenty of fun features for eco-conscious car buyers.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid features and pricing

The base-model Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid starts at $23,600. The standard trim, Blue, offers six exterior paints and a black interior. With 139 hp beneath the hood and 59 mpg combined, the Ioniq Hybrid base model is a safe bet for buyers who don’t want to break the bank. However, those who can afford to upgrade won’t regret it. 

The Ioniq SE and SEL trims get less mileage, but these models offer more safety features and driver assists. From a blind-spot warning system to rear-traffic sensors and daytime LED lights, the SE offers more modernity, starting at $25,550.

For a bit more, the $28,800 Ioniq SEL adds adaptive cruise control, a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, and wireless device charging. 

However, the most feature-packed hybrid model, the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq Limited, offers drivers and passengers more luxury. Though it performs like the SE and SEL, the Limited has a 10.25-inch navigation screen that adds an upscale vibe to an already impressive car. The leather seating and highway driving assistant make it comfortable and easy to drive. All in all, the Ioniq Hybrid Limited maxes out at $32,645, Hyundai shows.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq PHEV features and pricing

Starting at $26,800, the Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid gives you the best of both worlds, up to 52 mpg and an all-electric range of 29 miles. Each of the PHEV’s three trims offers something nice. Like the hybrid, the PHEV SE model makes 139 hp. In addition, it has forward collision-avoidance assist and pedestrian detection, lane-following assistance, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an 8.0-inch color touchscreen. 

Move up one tier, and the $29,800 SEL adds blind-spot collision warnings, rear cross-traffic alerts, a power driver’s seat, and wireless device charging. For $33,250, the top-trim Limited offers primarily the same aesthetic and features as the upgraded hybrid trims, such as a power tilt-and-slide sunroof. But the PHEV Limited also boasts a Harman Kardon audio system. Overall, the Limited PHEV tops out at $34,295. 

2022 Hyundai Ioniq Electric features and pricing

The all-electric Hyundai Ioniq starts at $33,245 and offers two trims. Packing a 100-kW, 134-hp electric motor, the standard SE gets an estimated 170 miles of range. It also comes with forward-collision avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, an 8.0-inch touchscreen display, DC fast-charging capability, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. 

The $38,815 Limited model performs similarly to the PHEV. It also provides a Harman Kardon premium audio system, highway driving assist, and leather seats for a more refined interior. Those features and its electrified powertrain make this Hyundai Ioniq the most expensive model in the family. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the right one for everyone. The Limited trims are more aesthetically pleasing and technologically advanced, but everyone’s needs and tastes are different. 

So, which model is the best? 

According to MotorTrend, the Hyundai Ioniq SE in the hybrid and PHEV versions meets most consumers’ needs without forcing them to fork over nearly $40,000.

On the other hand, Car and Driver recommends the SEL, saying that the added features justify the higher price.

Whichever model and trim floats your boat, Hyundai has an option for you. And though the selection can be overwhelming, every choice has its perks.
