If you’re in the market for a two-seat sports coupe, then you can’t overlook the 2022 Subaru BRZ. Its peppy 2.4-liter engine, updated styling, and a sub-$30,000 make it worth a hard look. In fact, the Subaru BRZ’s low starting price is good enough to draw almost every budget-minded buyer, but how much would it cost if you were to load one up with every option?

How much does it cost to load up a 2022 Subaru BRZ?

Shopping for the 2022 Subaru BRZ is easy because there are only two different trim levels to choose from: Premium and Limited. The top-trim Limited starts at a super-reasonable $31,455 (with the destination charge) when it’s equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Adding the six-speed automatic transmission adds another $1,800 to the bottom line.

If you’re looking for a fully-loaded BRZ, then technically, you can stop there as it comes fully loaded when the Limited trim is selected. However, according to the configurator on Subaru’s website, you can click off more boxes for some accessories. You can select some convenience items like an auto-dimming mirror and a cargo tray, and there are even some aero enhancements. But the most interesting accessories are the pet harness and the pet travel bowl so that you can take Fido with you when you carve up the canyons.

In total, there are 44 different accessories that you can add to your BRZ. There’s everything from a $28 ashtray to a $120 carbon fiber license plate frame (a must-have). Checking every single box will update the Limited’s top-trim price to an even higher $37,946. Although, it’s worth noting that some of the options include an aero kit that costs over $1,000.

What comes standard on the BRZ Premium?

If you would rather spend less than $30,000, then you can always opt for the entry-level BRZ Premium trim, which starts at $28,955 (including destination). The most notable standard equipment on the base trim includes 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch infotainment screen, Apple Carplay, Android Auto, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.

Also standard on both trim levels is a 2.4-liter flat-4 engine that produces 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. That’s 23 more horsepower and 28 more lb-ft of torque than the outgoing model, which make not sound like much, but it’s a nice bump considering the car only weighs around 2,900 pounds.

Stepping up to the Limited trim level will give you larger 18-inch wheels wrapped in grippy Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, active headlights, a blind spot monitor, and synthetic suede seats with leather side bolsters.

Is it worth it to buy the top-trim Limited?

Yes, because the extra $2,700 will get you better tires, larger wheels, and a couple of more safety features. Some may not think that those features are worth the extra money, but no matter which BRZ trim level you choose, you’ll get the same type of performance right out of the box. And yes, both trim levels come standard with a limited-slip differential, in case you were wondering.

Ultimately, the 2022 BRZ is an excellent value proposition if you’re looking for a fun sports coupe that is comfortable enough to drive every day. It comes standard with so many features that the base model will suit anyone just fine, but for those who want just a little more, then the Limited trim is a fine choice.
