Toyota’s Prius has made plenty of waves in the market, as did its Prius Prime model. While they’re pretty similar, the main difference is that the Prime version is a plug-in hybrid model, while the Prius is a standard hybrid vehicle. But one of the biggest questions when thinking of buying a vehicle is the price. So, how much does a fully loaded 2022 Toyota Prius Prime cost?

What can you expect from the Toyota Prius Prime base level PHEV, including cost?

Let’s begin with the base model, the LE trim, starting at $28,220. For that price, your plug-in hybrid gets you a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine producing 121 hp. Paired with it is an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (CVT), which allows the vehicle to get up to 54 mpg or 133 mpge.

This model comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, a smart key system, push-button start, tire pressure monitoring system, Hill Start Assist Control, LED taillights and brake lights. As far as features go, you can expect a seven-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, telescoping steering wheel, a climate control system with pollen filtration, and a front-wheel drivetrain.

As with all this brand’s models, you get Toyota’s Safety Sense, which includes the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, steering assist, automatic high beams, road sign assist, and dynamic radar cruise control.

What can you get for the price of the Prius Prime plug-in hybrid Limited trim?

The top trim level of the Prius Prime is the Limited version. According to Toyota’s website, this model starts at $34,000 and is less expensive than some of its rivals. It comes standard with LED fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, a shutter for the front grille, side body fins, underbody covers, and a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer rear hatch design.

The interior sports an 11.6-inch multimedia display, heated front seats, a cable lock for the smart charger, an integrated backup camera, power windows and door locks, cargo light, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and hands-free phone controls.

The Limited comes with the same engine as the LE, and it also gets the same fuel economy ratings as well. However, it comes with the Intelligence Clearance Sonar System, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a heads-up color display.

The available features you can get with the Limited trim, and how much will you spend on them

While the Limited comes with plenty of features, there are still a ton of available accessories and packages you can add to customize your purchase. For instance, the All-weather floor liner package will keep your cargo area and the floors in front of all the seats protected from dirt and debris. To add this, it will cost you $259. However, if you don’t want all of them, you can buy liners for just the seat or cargo area.

You can also get a carpet mat package instead of the liners. This add-on is priced at $259, and like the liners, you can just get them for seats or the cargo area if you don’t want to buy them all. Also, you get a $363 accessory package for both the carpet and liner packages that adds a first aid kit and rear bumper applique to it. Either of these packages will increase the price to $34,363.

If you want to protect the body from scratches or other damages, you can add a Protection package worth $413, which will get you a bumper applique and side moldings, and door edge guards. For a better phone charging experience, there’s also a Quick Charge Cable Package you can get for $70. This includes all the cables you need to charge your smartphones.

If you choose each of these packages, with either the liner or carpet mats, you will pay approximately $34,846. But, the accessory list adds even more available features to the mix. They’re just too numerous to mention here. In the end, you can get more than enough with the Limited trim and at least a couple of the packages added.
