The Cross Country is only available with one drivetrain, the T5 AWD. That is Volvo’s code for a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The engine produces 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, which is good enough to get the wagon from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds. 

Fuel economy is reasonable considering the Cross Country weighs 4,017 pounds. The EPA estimates that it will return 25 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. The base price for a 2022 V60 Cross Country is $46,200 and is comparable to Audi’s A4 Allroad.

On the inside, there is leather upholstery, heated front seats, and two-zone climate control. Navigation is standard and accessible from the central dashboard touchscreen. A 220-watt stereo is the basic audio system, which offers Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity.

A full suite of safety features is standard, and the Cross Country scores well with the NHTSA, earning a five-star safety rating. Active safety features include collision preventive braking, front and rear airbags, blind-spot monitoring, and cross-traffic alert. 

Options to fully load a V60 Cross Country

Starting on the outside, colors other than white add a $695 charge. There are two optional wheel designs, including a 19-inch wheel and tire package for $800 and a 20-inch wheel and tire package for $3,210. Adding double integrated tailpipes costs $260. 

Inside the cabin, black leather is standard. Upgrading to premium ventilated Nappa leather adds a suite of other options, including four-zone climate control, tailored dashboard, exterior scuff plates, and additional front seat power adjustments. The Lounge package, which includes a heads-up display and advanced park assist is also a part of the options group. In total, that adds $2,800 to the cost of the Cross Country. Front seat massage is an additional $500.

The other option packages include the Cold Climate package ($750), the Advanced Technology package ($1,900), and the Protection Package Premier ($700). Notable features of these options include heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving capabilities. There are two sound systems available, a Harmon Kardon system for $800 and a top-of-the-line 1,460-watt Bowers and Wilkins 15-speaker sound system for $4,000.

An autonomous parking assistance system is a $200 option. Finally, the Polestar Performance option ($1,295) adds a re-tuned engine and transmission for extra responsiveness and mid-range power.

Is a fully loaded V60 Cross Country worth it?

There is really nothing besides the Audi A4 Allroad that competes with the V60. Both are high-end luxury station wagons that give you all of the comfort and technology with a dose of offroad capability. They are nearly the same price, have similar options and performance. However, we think the Volvo edges the Audi in the looks department. 

$63,000 is a lot of money for a car. But, the Volvo V60 Cross Country packs as much technology, safety, and comfort into its packaging as is possible.
