Georgia Man Finally Receives Free 2021 Chevy Corvette Thanks to the Internet
Getting a brand-new 2021 Chevy Corvette requires more than just a healthy bank account. Due to massive production hurdles, the mid-engined Corvette is taking longer than expected to make its way out to customers across the country.
However, last week, one lucky Georgia man managed to win a Corvette for free plus $250,000 in a local lottery. Unfortunately, the organizers of the lottery weren’t able to source the sportscar. After pleading to the internet via a post on Facebook, CarBuzz report via Fox News that a very positive solution was found.
How did this Georgia man win a free 2021 Chevy Corvette?
Oddly enough, this 2021 Chevy Corvette story began with a scratch-off game. The advertised prize was a brand-new Chevy Corvette along with $250,000 in cash. According to Car and Driver, the winning ticket was sold sometime in December 2020. As you’d expect, this Georgia man decided to contact the lottery officials to claim his prize. Car and Driver report that the contest’s rules stated that the vehicle could not cost more than $107,000. Additionally, every dollar spent under that sum would be given to the winner on top of the $250,000.
As a result, the Georgia man went about selecting his ideal 2021 Chevy Corvette specification. This included a 2LT trim with the Z51 package. To brighten things up, the man chose Rapid Blue as his exterior color. According to Car and Driver, this build should carry a price of around $80,000, leaving him plenty of cash to spare. However, at this point, the organizers of the lottery began running into problems sourcing the car.
Why couldn’t anyone find him a car?
As you might expect, finding a 2021 Chevy Corvette is no easy feat. When you add the required specification on top of that, it becomes nearly impossible. As a result, the man took to the internet to share his story to see if that would bring forth some alternatives. Given how few cars are available across the country, some of these carry some greedy asking prices.
According to Car and Driver, a local dealership offered the man a 2021 Chevy Corvette in a similar specification to the one he originally wanted. However, the catch was that this vehicle carried a $10,000 price adjustment. Since this would make his build closer to $90,000, the man quickly refused to take the car, choosing to wait instead. This story then left off with the man willing to wait months until his car became available for the MSRP.
Lots of attention yields results
As you might expect, various media outlets picked up this 2021 Chevy Corvette story, getting plenty of attention. According to CarBuzz, Chevrolet of Atlanta reportedly reached out to the Georgia man to arrange an order. The most important part of this offer is that the man can option the exact car he wants and pay the MSRP, with no dealer markups.
What makes this 2021 Chevy Corvette delivery even more remarkable is that it will be delivered from the assembly plant in March. As a result, CarBuzz report that this Georgia man won’t have to wait until the end of 2021 to get his brand new car. As a result, this unusual predicament ended with a positive outcome.
