Get a Free Aston Martin With Your Penthouse Purchase
Porsche and Embraer recently teamed up so high-rollers could get a Porsche 911 to match their Embraer Phenom jet. Because, well, it’s just plain annoying not to have a matching jet and car. Not to be outdone, Aston Martin has fixed a pesky problem James Bond has always had. His penthouse and car were not both designed by Aston Martin. Also, in the interest of saving Bond some money, the purchase of the largest, priciest penthouse comes with an Aston Martin Vulcan for free. Apparently, even 007 has to budget these days.
The Aston Martin Vulcan
Bond has never driven a Vulcan. That might be because the manufacturer made only 24 and you have to take a special course before you’re allowed to drive the car. Plus, the car isn’t street-legal, which would be a problem for most people. But if this a nonissue for you, the Vulcan delivers on the hype.
A carbon-fiber monocoque surrounds the carbon body. A magnesium torque tube and carbon-fiber driveshaft connect the engine, and a six-speed gearbox — keeping with the not-street-legal theme — built to racing specifications. The brakes boast carbon-ceramic discs and racing calipers. Michelin racing tires complete the racing-style Vulcan. Oh, and it has, as usual for Aston Martin, a V12 engine that gives you 800-plus hp from 7.0 liters. The original V12 Vantage produced close to 600 hp from 6.0 liters and was not at all lacking in speed or power.
Aston Martin Residences
After designing a limited number of penthouses in New York, Aston Martin took its talents to Miami and designed its first luxury residential development, Aston Martin Residences.
Car and Driver says it’s a beautiful 65-story building in the shape of a sail overlooking and offering direct access to Biscayne Bay. Scheduled for completion in 2022, the high-rise holds 391 apartments that are all kinds of luxurious.
And the crown jewel — the penthouse you have to purchase to get the Vulcan — is a three-story, 27,191-square-foot mansion at the top. It costs $50 million, which might seem pricey, but you get the Vulcan for free. If that’s still outside your budget, Aston Martin also offers 38 signature apartments and seven penthouses that come with your choice of a DBX or a DB11. Prices start at $5.3 million for each signature apartment and $14 million per penthouse.
The DBX
This is Aston Martin’s first SUV. The DBX has a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 engine that puts out 542 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It can also haul 5,940 pounds and go off-road. It boasts lots of cargo space and all sorts of extras. A built-in navigation system, 14-speaker audio system, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and heated front and rear seats are a few high-end features.
The DB11
The Aston Martin DB11 is a slick, racing-style coupe. Its twin-turbo, 5.2-liter V12 puts out an impressive 630 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It can hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and handles well at high speeds with its 20-inch Bridgestone Potenza tires. Though it carries the Rapide AMR designation, the DB11 does high-speed cruising better than hardcore racing and carving.
