Although you might be stressed out from all of your holiday shopping for the gifts that go under your tree, keep in mind that the holidays are also a great time to shop for the gift that goes on your driveway. Whether it be for yourself or someone else, it’s a great time to buy a new car, however, your savings can vary depending on your location as well as the car’s make and model.

A car’s negotiability can depend on where it’s located

The folks over at Your Auto Advocate, Zach and Ray Shefska, analyzed over 1.68 million vehicle listings in 11 of the largest metro areas across the nation and found out that a vehicle’s “negotiability,” or your ability to negotiate the price, is based largely on the availability of the vehicle in that specific region, how long the vehicle sits on a dealer’s lot, as well as the demand for that vehicle, also known as “market day’s supply.” By understanding this information, prospective buyers can know which cars that dealers are more likely to give a better deal on during this holiday season.

As an example, you’re more likely to get a better deal on an Audi in Chicago and if you’re in Houston, then you might want to look at Toyotas. Of course, buy whichever brand suits you best, but if you’re looking for the best deals possible, then there is some rhyme and reason to this data.

Los Angeles

Those that live in the LA Metropolitan area, which includes Long Beach and Anaheim, will have a much easier time negotiating the price on a 2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet. But if you don’t want a German convertible, then you can always talk down the numbers on a 2020 Hyundai Veloster or 2020 BMW 7 Series. Those are the top three cars in that region, however, there are many others.

Chicago

If you live in the Chicago area, then your best bet when it comes to negotiating will be the 2020 Audi A4, 2020 Toyota Yaris, and the 2020 Toyota RAV4. Surprisingly, the rest of the top 10 list for that region is filled with Audis and BMWs.

Dallas

You might think that the Dallas-Fort Worth area might strike up deals on domestic brands, but in actuality, you could find a good deal on a 2020 Infiniti QX80, a 2020 Mini Hardtop four-door, or a 2020 Lexus ES. Apparently, there’s a lot of inventory left on those makes and models.

Houston

If you reside in the Houston area, then the cars with the most negotiability are the 2020 Lexus NX, 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, and the 2020 Toyota CH-R. As for the rest of the top 10 in that area, it’s a mixed bag of Cadillacs, Minis, and Toyota, so you’ll have a good selection to choose from for a great deal.

Washington D.C.

Most of the vehicles with the most negotiability in the Washington D.C. area are from luxury brands, in fact, nine out of 10 of them are. But if you want the most negotiable ones in that area, then you might want to look into a 2020 Lexus NX Hybrid, 2020 Infiniti QX50, or a 2020 Lexus RX.

Philadelphia

In the Philadelphia area, your chances of being to score a great deal lie within the 2020 Mazda3, the 2020 Lexus GS, and the 2020 Honda Odyssey. Keep in mind that all of those vehicles are 2020 models, which could have limited stock.

Atlanta

In the Atlanta area, the vehicles with the best negotiability include the 2020 Audi A4, the 2020 Volkswagen Golf, and the 2020 Lexus NX.
