Hurry, your time is running out for the Chevy Colorado. Well, if you want a brand new 2022 Chevy Colorado model, at least. Certain features and engines are about to be dropped. The 2022 model might better meet your needs compared to the 2023 model. 

Production of the 2022 Chevy Colorado is ending 

According to Pickup Truck Talk, time is ticking. Orders for the 2022 Chevy Colorado will close in July. So, you only have a few months left to order a specific build. Then production of the 2022 model will end on October 14. 

The 2023 Chevy Colorado will make an appearance soon, which is pretty exciting. It was last redesigned in 2015. So, to be fair, the truck is aging, and it’s time for some fresh updates. However, a few coveted features might bite the dust. 

For example, there is speculation that the 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 181 hp and 369 might be dropped. It could be replaced by a new diesel option of the Colorado could stick with gas-powered options. 

What to expect with the 2023 Chevy Colorado 

The 2022 Chevy Colorado comes standard with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine with 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the 3.6-liter V6 engine for 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Like the turbo-diesel engine, these options are expected to be dropped. 

But it’s unclear what engines will be available with the 2023 Chevy Colorado. The current generation can tow up to 7,700 lbs, which is outstanding. It can also carry a payload of up to 1,560 lbs. 

The new Colorado could have more power. It could also have hybrid and electric powertrains, but we will have to wait to learn more. So far, we can confirm that it will ride on the 31XX-2 platform. The current model rides on the GMT 31XX platform. 

While the Colorado has a smooth ride and quiet interior, the modified platform could improve these qualities. It could make the Colorado more cable for off-roading too. The 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 is expected to rival the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. 

Also, the Colorado will have a brand new exterior design. We’ve only seen spy shots where the Colorado is heavily covered in camouflage so far. However, it seems to have a more squared-off shape and a confident stance. 

Will the 2023 Colorado have better features? 

You can get started in a 2022 Chevy Colorado for about $25,435. Because the 2023 model will have exterior, interior, and powertrain options, it may go up in price by a few thousand dollars. 

The interior is being completely redesigned. The current model is viewed as outdated, stiff, and a little cheap. Higher-quality materials, more supportive seats, updated tech, and innovative cargo solutions could be on the way. 

While a 7.0-inch touchscreen comes standard, you can upgrade to an 8.0-inch unit. Apply CarPlay, and Android Auto come standard. Perhaps the 2023 model will gain a larger screen, a digital gauge cluster, and a wireless charging pad. 

Also, hardly any safety features come standard with the 2022 Colorado. Perhaps forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and more will be standard. 

While we’re super excited for the 2023 Colorado to come out, it might be time to jump on a 2022 model. It’s an affordable basic option with rare perks like an available diesel engine.
