According to GoodCarBadCar, the best-selling large SUVs of Q2 2022 are the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Both models are from GM, but unsurprisingly, they’re almost the same vehicle. The Tahoe and Yukon share many different things, primarily architecture. During the most recent sales quarter, the Chevy large SUV sold 21,069 units, and the Yukon sold the second most with 17,070. Trailing behind them in third is the Ford Expedition, which sold just 13,129.

Behind the Ford offering are plenty of others, including the other Chevy large SUV, the Suburban. What makes GM’s large SUVs the most popular of the bunch? Even the Suburban only sold 8,879 units during the second quarter of 2022. That’s less than half of the Tahoe’s total sales. Why does everyone want the two identical models?

Part of the reason the 2022 Chevy Tahoe is so popular is the value it provides. For the starting price of just over $50,000, the base Tahoe is well-equipped. It comes with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, eight-passenger seating, an eight-inch infotainment screen, forward collision mitigation, lane-keeping assist, and parking sensors. Combined, they make the Tahoe a comfortable and convenient model without breaking the bank too much.

However, the LT trim level is the most popular Tahoe version. It adds a hands-free tailgate, wireless charging pad, leather upholstery, a nine-speaker Bose audio system, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a digital instrument cluster, and a 10.2-inch infotainment screen. As a result, the price jumps to $56,795. Moreover, the standard engine is a 5.3-liter V8 for all models except the High Country, which uses a 6.2-liter V8. Alternatively, the GMC Yukon shares the same engine lineup. In addition, base features for the SLE trim level are basically identical. However, it starts at $53,295, which is slightly more expensive than the base model Tahoe. Moreover, the SUV gains a 10.2-inch touchscreen, the GMC Pro Safety Plus package, plus much more. For this one, the most popular trim in the lineup is surprisingly the most expensive.

According to Edmunds, most buyers choose the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali. As a result, they pay at least $71,195 for their large SUV. That’s much higher than the most popular Tahoe trim, the LT. However, the Yukon Denali is the pinnacle of large luxury SUVs. It comes with a 14-speaker Bose sound system, second-row bucket seats, the Technology package, and many available optional packages.

Optional packages include the Advanced Technology package, Denali Premium package, and Denali Ultimate package. These features include adaptive cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, 22-inch wheels, a rear-seat entertainment system, and much more.

In conclusion, GM makes the best-selling large SUVs in Q2 2022. Within the period, far more people bought the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon than any other model in their class. Options like the Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia, and Jeep Wagoneer are excellent, but consumers love GM large SUVs.
