GM Targets Common Annoyance With Cadillac Infotainment Marketplace Addition
General Motors keeps adding technology to their vehicles, with Cadillac recently announcing a convenient addition to its already-popular Marketplace feature. At the forefront of technology, convenience, performance, and luxury, Cadillac helps drivers accomplish almost anything with its intuitive infotainment system.
Cadillac convenience with new feature
The luxury brand has always focused on elevating the driving experience. In the hopes of “bringing a new level of luxury,” Cadillac drivers can find, reserve, and pay for parking from the comfort of their own vehicles. ParkWhiz is just the most recent of many companies with features that GM and Cadillac has added to the Marketplace app.
The Marketplace is available on infotainment systems in recent Cadillac vehicles, with ParkWhiz saving people the stress and hassle of finding parking. According to MSN, the ParkWhiz app allows you to pick and choose from thousands of parking spaces across 250 cities.
This feature will only be available on Cadillac vehicles with current infotainment systems — so Cadillac models from 2017 and earlier, or around 325,000 vehicles total. Vehicles will also require an active data plan through a WiFi hotspot in order to use the Marketplace.
How it works
In order to use ParkWhiz, Cadillac owners will visit the company’s mobile app or website to set up an account and enter payment and vehicle information. Once you’ve created an account, it can be linked to the ParkWhiz app through the in-car Marketplace.
Once synced, Cadillac’s infotainment system uses ParkWhiz to search for parking. The in-car app shows available spaces and prices. Then, you can select and pay for a parking spot. Spaces to park your car can even be reserved in advance. The vehicle’s infotainment system can provide details about the garage, directions, and access to parking passes. Users can even check reviews of parking spots and garages.
The ParkWhiz app has been around since 2007. And there are more than one million searches for parking spaces using ParkWhiz daily. As of now, ParkWhiz is available on most smartphones but will only exist in infotainment systems from Cadillac.
Cadillac Marketplace’s other offerings
GM’s Marketplace feature also allows people to order and pay for things from the comfort of your vehicle. Since first launching in 2017, GM has continually added Marketplace features to connected Buick, GMC, Chevrolet, and Cadillac vehicles. It’s the industry’s first in-vehicle commerce platform of its kind.
Companies and merchants also offer continually-changing specials in the Marketplace. GM most recently added Yelp, giving people the ability to book restaurant reservations from the car, as well as Domino’s, to help people order pizza from their saved preferences.
