The GMC Sierra EV Reveals Chevy Silverado EV Clues
New electric trucks are almost here, including the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali EV. The GMC Sierra EV is expected to be pretty luxurious compared to the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV. However, we think that the Chevy Silverado EV might be more popular as a work truck, like the Ford F-150 Lightning.
Will the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV be like the GMC Sierra EV?
Chances are that the GMC Sierra Denali EV and 2023 Chevy Silverado EV will be pretty similar. The gas-powered versions of these trucks have been cousins for years. They share the same engine, platform, and more.
However, the GMC Sierra is considered to be more luxurious than the Chevy Silverado. It typically has a slightly different look with nicer interior materials and more tech. While we’ve seen a teaser of the Denali EV, we haven’t seen the Silverado EV.
But we could learn more about both trucks in just a few days. Until then, we can use what we know about the electric GMC Sierra truck to reveal potential clues about the electric Chevy Silverado.
What do the Sierra and Silverado EV have in common?
The 2023 Chevy Silverado EV and the GMC Sierra Denali EV will both ride on the General Motors Ulitmum Platform. This is the same platform that underpins the GMC Hummer EV truck. Also, the trucks will all be built at the Factory X in Detroit, Michigan. Building the trucks together makes it easier for them to each share parts.
Also, this platform helps the Silverado EV aim for a range of at least 400 miles. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has a range of about 230 miles with the standard range battery and up to 300 miles of range with the extended battery pack.
It’s no secret that the Hummer EV is the top dog in this pack. It provides over 1,000 hp and offers up to 350 miles of range. The Chevy Silverado EV may not have this much horsepower yet, but rumors suggest that it could come out later.
The 2023 Silverado EV may have about 500 hp when it first arrives. This number is closer to what the F-150 Lightning has to offer. Also, the Lightning can tow up to 10,000 lbs. We can’t wait to see how much the new Silverado can haul.
While the Silverado EV have good features?
We can only speculate about what the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV will provide for now. It’s safe to expect standard all-wheel drive and an optional Four-Wheel Steer system for off-roading. So on that note, we can expect this truck to have some serious off-roading chops.
Chevy has kept the interior of their new electric truck under wraps. But it will probably be a bit nicer than the gasoline-powered options. Plus, we’ve seen the massive glass roof.
It could have a similar face to the GMC Sierra Denali with thing LED headlights and perhaps running lights on the sides of the grille. We also wouldn’t be surprised if the grille area outlined the bowtie with LED lights.
The Chevy Silverado EV could cost between $40,000 to $50,000, and we should learn more about it soon. If the Silverado EV looks similar to the GMC Sierra Denali EV, we won’t be disappointed.
