Yikes, that has to hurt. The GMC Sierra 1500 just sacked the Ford F-150, and now it’s getting benched. Ford punted away its sponsorship for FOX NFL Sunday, and GMC Sierra and other options in the lineup were ready to rumble.

According to Muscle Cars and Trucks, there’s a new player for the NFL. The GMC Sierra 1500 and GMC Canyon will be the trucks that you see during Fox NFL Sunday for the next few months, which is quite the change. 

Ford was the official sponsor for nearly two decades. But Ford recently decided to split itself into electric and gas-powered divisions. As a result, its marketing strategy is changing, so the F-150 dropped the sponsorship, which could be a major fumble. 

Instead of hearing about aluminum bodies and being built FORD tough, now your football will come with ads for the GMC Sierra and Canyon. It’s safe to bet on SuperCruise being hyped up every Sunday. 

In 2019, GMC spent about $247 million on advertising, so who knows how much it will spend now. Millions of people will see the new ads, which could bring more attention to the Sierra. The Ford F-150 could lose sales because it won’t be in this massive spotlight anymore. 

What’s new for the Sierra 1500? 

The 2022 GMC Sierra has a lot of updates to bring to the table. For example, the new SuperCruise semi-automated driving system is available, and it works while towing. It automatically steers, brakes, and even changes lanes for you. 

We know it sounds a little scary, but we’ve tested the system, and it’s very safe. It only works if the driver keeps their eyes focused on the road. It beeps to warn you if you seem distracted and locks you out of the hands-free system after three chances. 

The GMC Sierra AT4X just emerged as the most capable Sierra ever. It has a two-inch factory lift, Multimatic DSSV spool valve dampers, uniquely tuned springs to improve suspension travel, and Goodyear DuraTrac Mud-Terrain tires. 

Here are locking differentials in the front and steel skid plates protect the undercarriage and two-speed transfer case. The transfer case has the Terrain off-roading mode, which allows for one pedal rock crawling.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate is quite the title and has enough luxury features to back it up. Its 22-inch wheels look great, and the adaptable suspension dampens impacts for a smooth ride. 

You can access the heated or ventilated seats to increase your comfort or even use the built-in massagers. Power deploying side steps makes it easier to climb in. 

Plus, the MultiPro tailgate can turn into a step, bed extender, or work surface. The built-in audio system will be a hit at tailgates too. 

The head-up display, sunroof, and 12-speaker Bose audio system create a relaxing environment as you drive to and from the stadium. Also, Google Assitant, wireless Apple Carplay, and Android Auto come standard. 

As the GMC Sierra replaces the Ford F-150, we will probably hear about the AT4X and Denali Ulitmate the most.
