We’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that the 2021 Ram 1500 Built to Serve Edition is out. The bad news is that this might be the final Ram 1500 Built to Serve Edition. Let’s see if it’s worth buying and why it’s going away.
Get the Ram 1500 Built to Serve Edition while you can
The Ram 1500 Built to Serve Edition is the fifth and final variant of this series. This final version honors the Coast Guard and is available in Spitfire Orange or Bright White. Each branch edition comes in two unique colors that evoke the spirit, the mission, and honor military service.

The Built to Serve models are a way to honor those who have selflessly served our country. Whether civilian or military, Ram truck owners are very familiar with the adage as it’s something we strive to build into every truck and van we produce.
The trucks were supposed to roll out in increments between Veterans Day 2019 and 2020 but faced delays due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Now the final models of the 10,000 Built to Serve trucks are here. The 10 color choices include Gator and Diamond Black, Ceramic Grey and Patriot Blue, Anvil and Billet Silver, Tank, and Flame Red, along with the new Spitfire Orange and Bright White.
What comes with the Built to Serve Edition?
According to Auto Blog, If you opt for the Ram 1500 Built to Serve Edition, you get the 4×4 Off-Road Group which bundles features like all-terrain tires, an electronically locking rear axle, hill descent control, tow hooks, and skid plates.
They also come with prominent rear quarter panel decals, a blacked-out grille, black badges, side steps, black four-inch exhaust tips, body-colored wheel arches, and 20-inch wheels in a shade of Technical Gray.
On the inside, you’ll find a black interior with gray contrast stitch and flag motifs. The front seats come with shoulder-height Velcro packages that can be used to place unit patches or flags. Plus, the backseats feature a PALS/MOLLE webbing for storage.
You can add the Built to Serve package to any trim or powertrain, so that’s pretty neat. Also, the package costs $2,795. This is pretty reasonable for all of the off-roading upgrades. It also may be the best way to get a Ram truck for off-roading without spending tons on the TRX.
Will new Built to Serve Editions come out?
It’s unclear if the Ram 1500 Built to Serve Editions are done for good. The special editions were for 2020 and faced a few delays while being rolled out. There might be new Built to Serve Editions for 2021 or 2022. But this information has not been confirmed or denied.
Also, each model was manufactured in low quantities of 1,500 units or less. The future of the Built to Serve Edition may depend on how popular these trucks are. Also, could these editions extend to other models?
What about the Jeep Gladiator? A Built to Serve Gladiator would provide people with a mid-size truck instead of a full-size option. However, the Gladiator does have the 80th Anniversary Willys Edition.
