Since manufacturers make more from the higher-optioned vehicles they make, they were glad to accommodate. We’re going to give a quick review of some of the most expensive SUVs made today. Some come in at $100,000, while others go beyond $300,000. You knew these monster-priced mega-SUVs were somewhere, and now we’ll show them to you. 2020 BMW X7 xDrive50i – from $99,600
It would seem that the largest BMW gets the largest kidney-bean grille. While we like the X7, we’d like the option of a more stylish and smaller grille. Power for this top-of-the-line Bimmer is a twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V8 engine making 456 HP and 479 lb-ft of torque. A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dash, while the interior can handle seven passengers with the third-row seating.
2020 Lincoln Navigator L Black Label Luxury SUV – from $99,970
Surprisingly, Lincoln’s largest SUV only comes with the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine making 450 hp. Though sharing the same platform as a Ford Expedition, the Lincoln features enough differences to make it not only look different but rival Land Rovers for luxury.
2019 Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum 4WD Luxury SUV– from $100,295
Cadillac does not do as good of a job hiding the Escalade’s shared Chevy components, but there’s no mistaking it’s a Caddy. Power comes from a 420 hp, 6.2-liter V8, also shared with Chevy. The CUE infotainment tech is up to date, and besides the luxurious leather interiors, it also has the towing capacity of a truck.
2019 Mercedes-AMG G-Class G63 – from $147,400
The AMG variant of the Mercedes mighty G-class features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 making 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The allure of the G-Wagen is its almost military-type styling and Teutonic feel. Inside, Mercedes captured the luxury of its S-class interiors. That includes the twin 12.3-inch digital infotainment displays.
2020 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid – from $164,400
The Turbo S E-Hybrid is the most expensive Cayenne made, with a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 engine that powers in conjunction with an electric motor for a combined 670 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. This is a quick and quiet SUV in the pantheon of Porsche’s performance. The interior is as impressive for its design and luxury features as is the Cayenne’s handling.
2019 Bentley Bentayga – from $165,000
This is the first SUV made by Bentley and it follows in the mold of past Bentleys for its understated looks and interior appointments. It also has three engines available; a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with 542 hp, a V6 plug-in hybrid, or a crazy 6.0-liter W12 with 600 hp. For 2020 it will be available with third-row seating for seven passengers.
Lamborghini Urus – from $200,000
You almost need to see the Urus in person to feel its presence. Lambo wants the Urus to double its yearly output and from all indications, this is happening. There is no V12 under the hood, but there is a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbocharged to 641 hp. The speed and performance of that much power plus the ability to handle five adults comfortably marks a new path for Lamborghini. If you’ve got $200,000 this might be the SUV for you.
2020 Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography – from $209,500
SVAutobiography is the top of the Land Rover heap. What indicates its status is the extended wheelbase which is evident from the outside in the rear doors. Power comes from a supercharged, 5.0-liter V8 with 557 hp, 21-inch alloy wheels, and exterior bits to separate it from pedestrian Range Rovers. All of the seating includes power-reclining features, with the front seats providing 24-way adjustments.
2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan – from $325,000
This was not the easiest model for Roller fans to accept, but it will still sell out. As a reaction to Bentley’s Bentayga, it takes sporty luxury farther. Motivation is handled by a twin-turbocharged, 6.75-liter V12 engine packing 563 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The Cullinan comes standard with a rear bench seat that can be folded down for extra cargo capacity. You can also get a four-seat version with a drink cooler in the middle.
2021 Aston Martin DBX – from $189,000
Aston Martin is hoping the DBX can save the company. The DBX comes as a five-seater with 4 x 4 capabilities. A Mercedes-sourced 542 hp, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 powers the DBX. For sports car agility there are electronic driving aids that include a 48-volt anti-roll system. If you’ve got that $200,000 it will become available in mid-2020.
Other SUVs in this league coming in 2021 include the 2021 Audi RS Q8, Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 S, Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, and the 2022 Ferrari Purosangue.
