Taking the number three spot for luxury SUV towing capacity is the 2022 Audi Q7, with a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds.
Four other luxury SUVs take up space in the top SUVs for towing capabilities. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE can tow up to 7,700 pounds, while the 2022 BMW X5 has a towing capacity of 7,200 pounds. The 2022 Lincoln Aviator tows up to 6,700 pounds. Finally, the 2022 Lexus GX 460 has a towing capacity of 6,500 pounds.
The 2022 Dodge Durango is the midsize SUV with the highest towing capacity
The 2022 Dodge Durango has a powerful V8 engine with a high towing capacity. Two trim levels are especially good for bringing your boat to the lake or ocean. Both the 2022 Dodge Durango RT 392 and the 2022 Dodge Durango R/T with the Tow N Go package can tow up to 8,700 pounds.
In addition, other Dodge Durangos have a respectable towing capacity. The 2022 Dodge R/T and Citadel with rear-wheel-drive can tow up to 7,400 pounds. The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee can tow up to 6,200 pounds when equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine. It can tow even more if you upgrade to the 5.7-liter V8 engine with four-wheel-drive. This increases the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s towing capacity to 7,200 pounds.
The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder takes the tenth spot on the list of the top ten SUVs for towing capacity. The Nissan Pathfinder can tow up to 6,000 pounds. While that may be nowhere near the Dodge Durango’s max tow range, it’s still better than a lot of midsize SUVs. To get that you’ll have to opt for the Class III tow hitch.
