It’s Hard to Find New V8 SUVs: Here Are the Last Ones Made
The V8 is a dying breed worldwide. Still, when it comes to performance and panaché, it’s hard to beat. Americans still have a romance with the eight-cylinder engine, yet automakers are cutting off the production of their V8s one by one for V6s and the electric takeover. For SUV buyers, there are still a number of V8 options available.
The biggest of the bunch for engine size is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 at 6.4-liters, followed by the Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade triumvirate at 6.2-liters. The three GM SUVs also are the largest of the V8 SUV segment.
Get these V8s while you can
With big V8s comes a big price, which the 2023 Lamborghini Urus Performante tops at $260,000 MSRP. The cheapest new V8 SUV you can slide into is the Jeep Grand Cherokee L at a $40,325 base MSRP. For the fastest of the group, it’s the 2023 Bentley Bentayga at 190 mph, followed closely by the 2023 Lamborghini Urus S Performante at 189 mph, then the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Coupe at 186 mph, according to duPont Registry.
So get ‘em while they’re new because this list will shrink next year. Soon, only used SUVs will be available to satisfy that Rocket 88 obsession.
