Harley-Davidson recently launched its Enthusiast Collection, joining last year’s Icons Collection. The first Enthusiast Collection focuses on interpretations of the WWII WLA motorcycles it produced back in the day. It has applied the Army Green (called Mineral Green Denim Deluxe) paint and military graphics to the Pan America and Tri Glide Ultra. Graphics include the Enthusiast Collection logos. White stars complete the visuals, applied to both gas tanks. The Tri Glide Ultra also gets them on the trunk door.

What Harley-Davidson models are these based on?

Beyond that, the Pan America 1250 Special G.I. and Tri Glide Ultra G.I. are like the base motorcycle for each line. “The new Mineral Green Denim Deluxe paint pays homage to the Olive Drab paint used on Harley-Davidson WLA models,” says Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design Brad Richards. “This color features a metallic effect resulting in a subtle gold highlight, allowing the color travel to be more dramatic and show off the shape of the surfacing.

“The tank graphic celebrates the iconic white five-point star, which was used during WWII on military vehicles. The tank graphic also features a stenciled ‘H-D’ and a location of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, abbreviated. It’s inspired from the spec tags found on government-issued military equipment. The stenciled approach is a treatment often found on military vehicles, as lettering was frequently done in the field. Here, we’re calling out the birthplace of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company and the original WLA model.”

How different are these Harley-Davidson models from last year?

Last year we saw big changes for the Pan America, so 2022 only gets a few upgrades. The Hill Hold Assist has seen an increase in the amount of time it stays on. And an exclusive Fastback Blue/White Sand Pan America 1250 Special is new. But the Special keeps its steel trellis frame and liquid-cooled Revolution Max V-Twin engine. The Special pricing is a buck under $20,000.

As for the 2022 Tri Glide, it remains the same as in 2021. But the Freewheeler gets a new tank medallion and two-tone Midnight Crimson/Vivid Black paint scheme. The Harley 2022 Ultra gets a new cloisonné medallion, dual pinstripes, and either Midnight Crimson/Vivid Black or Gauntlet Gray/Vivid Black paint combos. A Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine still powers the Tri Glide long hauler. The base Freewheeler has a $28,499 MSRP.

What is the Enthusiast Collection limited to?
