The Hennessey Exorcist Camaro Packs Insane Power and a Crazy Price
One of the most iconic muscle cars, the Chevy Camaro stands out for its performance abilities and aggressive good look. Having been around for decades, Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Mustang has made a name for itself. And now the Hennessey Performance Engineering Team has created a special Exorcist Camaro to celebrate a company milestone.
What you can expect from the 2021 Chevy Camaro
The Chevy Camaro comes in five models. The standard LS has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 275 hp and can go from 0 to 60 in 5.4 seconds. The starting price is $25,000, plenty of available features can drive the price up.
The LT model also comes with a four-cylinder motor, but you can upgrade to a 3.6-liter V6 that producing 335 hp. The starting price is $25,500.
Next in the lineup is the LT1, with a 6.2-liter V8 making 455 hp and zooming from 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds. The price starts at $34,000.
The SS model comes with the same motor as the LT1 but starts at $37,500.
The top-trim ZL1, starting at $63,000, packs a 6.2-liter V8 harnessing 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It can roar from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds, Chevrolet claims.
What makes the Exorcist Camaro so powerful and expensive?
Hennessey Performance is celebrating its 30th anniversary, duPont Registry reports. To commemorate the occasion, the folks at Hennessey souped up a Camaro ZL1 to showcase some of the skills they’ve developed over the years for tuning fast cars to make them even faster.
This special-edition Exorcist Camaro produces 1,000 hp and 883 lb-ft of torque. Take it to the track, and you can get a 2.1-second acceleration time in the 0-60 mph run. It can even finish the quarter-mile in only 9.57 seconds.
The car’s exterior bears the Hennessey anniversary logo on the front panels just behind the wheels. They’ve placed a plate on the chassis that showcases which unit number the car belongs to in the production run. Hennessey Performance’s founder/CEO calls the Exorcist Camaro “one ferocious supercar slayer.”
The price for this beast is a cool $135,000. But it’s legit — it comes with a two-year/24,000-mile warranty. You can order it in a coupe or convertible body style and with an automatic or manual transmission. Contact an authorized Chevrolet dealer or call 866-838-0979 to learn more.
What is the Hennessey Performance Engineering Team?
Hennessey Performance is a team of engineers that soups up some of the most popular cars, trucks, and SUVs with aftermarket products. They can transform any vehicle using air intake and induction kits, stainless-steel cat-back exhaust systems, and specially tweaked computer programs.
One of the most popular services they provide is supercharging engines. They can tune a motor to produce over 1,000 hp, which increases acceleration times significantly. With 30 years under its belt, the Hennessey Performance team was founded by racer John Hennessey, who’s familiar with the concept of speed, according to the Hennessey Performance website.
Besides building the Hennessey Exorcist Camaro, the team has souped up a Dodge Durango with 1,000 hp and a Sierra Goliath with 700 hp. They’ve also tweaked a Velociraptor F250 to generate 700 hp, allowing it to go from 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds.
