The 2021 Nissan Altima arrived with no significant changes to both its available features and price. In terms of mid-sized sedans, the Altima’s sales sit just below the Camry and the Accord, making it one of the best-selling in the U.S. While navigating various trim levels could seem daunting, this price breakdown will be your ultimate guide. Not only will we cover the different prices, but we will also even tell you which one to buy.
The 2021 Nissan Altima starts at $24,300
The 2021 Nissan Altima starts at $24,300. It is important to note that all trim levels are subject to a mandatory $925 destination and handling charge. According to Nissan, the base trim level is the S, powered by a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. The Altima S produces 188 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, as do almost all other trim levels.
As standard, you’ll get Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 safety system. Included in the suite of security features are things such as Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Automatic Braking, to name a few. Since Safety Shield comes as standard on the lowest trim level, all of the other versions of the Altima benefit from it.
In terms of features, the Altima S gets an eight-inch touchscreen display, a back-up camera, and 16-inch steel wheels.
The Altima Platinum is the most expensive at $34,100
For 2021, the Nissan Altima’s trim levels got shuffled around a fair bit. Previously the SV sat above the SR and included a moonroof, heated front seats, and Intelligent Lane Intervention. The SV now sits below the SR and costs $25,400. The aforementioned standard features are currently only available through an optional Premium Package.
The lux versions of the Altima are the SL and Platinum. The SL has a starting price of $31,390 and offers luxury-oriented features such as Bose audio system, leather seats, and navigation as standard.
The range-topping Altima is the Platinum for $34,100. Unlike all the other trim levels where all-wheel-drive is an optional extra, the Platinum includes it as standard. On top of the extras standard on lower models, the Platinum gets 19-inch wheels, a 360-degree camera system, and unique interior accent lighting.
The Altima SR is the one to get for $27,600
Right in the middle of the Nissan Altima’s lineup is the one you should buy, the SR. While the SR starts at $26,200, it comes in two flavors. Unlike all other Altima trim levels, the SR is available with a 236 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Although the engine upgrade bumps the price up to $30,650, it still sits below the luxury-oriented models.
Interior features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Altima SR benefits from 19-inch wheels, sporty suspension, and paddle shifters. Aesthetically, the V-Motion grille in the front bumper receives darkened accents.
Although Nissan did not officially confirm it, we hope the SR receives the features previously standard in the SV given the trim swap and price increase. If the SR benefits from those features, it is likely the most value you’ll get out of the 2021 Nissan Altima.
