With its full-length grille, the latest Toyota Tundra is a distinct-looking truck. Toyota adds to the visuals with unique grilles and chrome for its upper-end tirms: the Tundra Platinum, TRD Pro, 1794 Edition, and Capstone. But the Tundra Capstone for example starts at $73,530. Luckily the 2023 Tundra SR5 SX Package gives Toyota buyers a way to custom order an especially unique-looking pickup truck at an entry-level price.

How do you order the blacked-out SX package on a 2023 Toyota Tundra?

If you want a cost-effective Toyota truck with blacked-out trim, select the 2023 Toyota Tundra SR5. Get the truck in white, gray, silver, or midnight black. Then simply order the SX visual package–for just $300.

The SX package swaps the SR5’s body-color trim for black trim. This includes outer door handles and the center section of the rear bumper. It also deletes the truck’s chrome door badges. It tosses chrome bits–such as rims and the 4×4 tailgate badge–in favor of dark gray metallic components.

You can order the SX package on an SR5 that’s either a double cab with 6.5-foot bed or as a CrewMax with the 5.5-foot bed. You can also choose between 2WD or 4WD.

Does Toyota offer a Nightshade Tundra?

Toyota offers blacked-out trim packages for many other models. On most vehicles this is badged as the “Nightshade package.” But none of the Tundras with dark trim are badged as a “Nightshade Edition.”

Toyota’s family of 2022 Nightshade vehicles includes the following:

  • Avalon Hybrid
  • C-HR
  • Camry
  • Corolla
  • Corolla Hatchback
  • Prius
  • Tacoma

For the 2023 model year, Toyota will be adding the Venza hybrid SUV Nightshade edition to its lineup.

Toyota also offers a SR5 SX for the 2023 Tacoma. Therefore, it’s clear that the automaker consider the Nightshade and SX separate styling packages. The Tundra is only available with the SX package–not the Nightshade package.

What 2023 Toyota Tundra pickup trucks have blacked out trim?

The 2023 Toyota Tundra SR5 SX is the newest Tundra with blacked-out trim, but far from the only one. The entry-level Toyota Tundra SR comes with black plastic trim, unless you upgrade to SR5-style body-colored trim. The Tundra Platinum trim level is defined by its dark, gunmetal trim. Finally, the TRD Pro features black rims and body-colored trim.

Toyota also offers plenty of chrome-covered Tundra trim levels. The mid-level Tundra Limited trim features a blacked-out grille and a flat-silver alloy grille-surround. The Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition costs the same as the Platinum, but is decked-out with a chrome grille, chrome side trim, and a genuine wood interior. Finally, the all-new Tundra Capstone trim features a chrome grille slats and the largest chrome rims in the Tundra lineup. There is no shortage of ways to configure your 2023 Toyota Tundra.
