Here’s a Price Breakdown of Each Tesla Model in 2022
Tesla has increased prices for the entire lineup as prices for all new and used cars continue to go up. Looking at the current lineup, the prices for the Tesla Model 3 are still the cheapest, followed by the Tesla Model Y electric SUV. That is followed by the Tesla Model S and, finally, the Model X.
How much is a Tesla Model 3 electric vehicle as of March 2022?
The Tesla Model 3 is known as the cheapest model in the lineup, but MotorTrend says that doesn’t mean the price is low these days. After the most recent price hike, the Model 3 starts at $48,190 as of March 2022. It did get an extra five miles of range, bumping it up to 267 miles.
The 2022 Model 3 Long Range has an EPA-rated 353 miles, and it starts at $55,690. That’s up about $2,000 from the last change in price. The Performance model starts at $63,190 now, up $3,000 from the last increase. This one has 315 miles of range and comes with all-wheel drive.

The Tesla Model Y electric SUV got a price bump too
The Tesla Model Y electric SUV starts at $64,190 as of March 2022. This has gone up more than $6,000 in recent months after the two most recent price changes. The Long Range Model Y has an EPA-estimated 326 miles, which is pretty good. If you opt for the Model Y Performance with 303 miles of range, this one will run you $69,190 now.
With the seats on the Model Y, it comes standard with five seats. Seven seats will add another $3,000 to the price and add a third row. If you plan to tow with the Y, you can opt for a $1,000 tow hitch to add space.
If you are looking for the Model S, expect higher prices
As far as the Tesla Model S goes, this one comes in quite a bit more expensive than the Model 3. The 2022 Model S Long Range starts at $101,190. The price bump was smaller for this one, increasing only $500. The LR version gets 405 miles of range, one of the higher ranges offered.
For the tri-motor Model S Plaid, the price went up a staggering $6,000 to $137,190 as of March 2022. You can almost expect to pay that much these days, especially with its 348 miles of range. The Plaid has a zero to 60 mph time of under 2.0 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph, which is insane, just like the price.
The Tesla Model X price went up the most as of March 2022
Finally, the Tesla Model X electric SUV is known for its excellent “Falcon Wing” doors and high price. The regular Model X starts at $116,190, a $5,000 hike from the most recent price jump. It has an estimated range of 360 miles. If you are more interested in the Model X Plaid, this trim level starts at $140,190 as of March 2022. That’s up $13,500 this month, which already saw another $4,500 increase just before that. The Plaid has a range of 313 miles.
If you get this electric SUV in the standard configuration, it has room for five. Getting the space for six passengers will cost you an extra $6,500. The seven-seat design runs another $3,500.
The prices for the mysterious Roadster are anywhere from $200,000 to $250,000, depending on which one you want. Then there is also the Tesla Cybertruck, which may or may not come to fruition sometime in 2023. Cybertruck pricing started at $39,900 and went up to around $79,900, but that was before the pandemic derailed things further. No updated pricing has been released.
