Here’s What the 2023 Lexus NX 350 F SPORT Gets Right
There are not many brands that have the reputation of Toyota or Lexus, especially when it comes to reliable SUVs. After driving the 2023 Lexus NX 350 F SPORT around for a while, it is pretty clear why people like the sport utility vehicle so much. The F SPORT package enhances its performance, but the NX is a strong contender in the luxury SUV segment either way.
Driving the 2023 Lexus NX 350 F SPORT feels familiar and easy
Even if you have never driven a Lexus vehicle, the 2023 Lexus NX 350 feels comfortable. Our test vehicle was the 2023 Lexus NX 350 F SPORT in Ultrasonic Blue Mica with Black and Circuit Red NuLuxe seats. The bolstered sport seats set this NX apart from other options and were exclusive to this trim. High-quality materials are used throughout the cabin, including on the steering wheel and center console.
The NX 350 has plenty of room for five passengers, and the cargo area was big enough for all our road trip necessities. Even though the cargo area doesn’t look enormous at first glance, it has 22.7 cubic feet with the seats up and 46.9 cubic feet with the seats folded. Ours fit a golf bag and three overnight bags without issue.
Even though the NX has a striking design, the F SPORT adds some individuality and character to the SUV. It stands out in the crowd but still offers a pretty easy ride, and the additional upgrades add to the fun. Thanks to the 2.4L turbo engine, 275 hp is plenty to power the SUV around town. This version also comes with all-wheel drive, which is helpful to have.
How much is the 2023 Lexus NX 350 F Sport?
The 2023 Lexus NX 350 is a fun ride under $50,000 and one of the more popular models from the brand. The NX isn’t heavy by any means, and that 275 horsepower is just fast enough to make the daily commute more exciting. Lexus’ eight-speed transmission is smooth whether driving around town or trying to get up to speed on the highway. It had no trouble in any of the driving situations that were presented, and the NX 350 felt safe during a heavy rain storm.
Trim | MSRP |
NX 250 FWD | $39,755 |
NX 250 AWD | $41,355 |
NX 350 | $43,515 |
NX 350h | $43,105 |
NX 350 F Sport | $47,465 |
NX 450h+ | $57,705 |
This version has an MSRP of $47,465, but the base model is as low as $39,755. Lexus also offers the NX 350h with a hybrid powertrain for added fuel economy. The F SPORT came with a 14-inch touchscreen that is responsive and easy to use. Many main controls, like climate and navigation, must be adjusted on the screen. This did require taking eyes off the road sometimes, but this can be done quickly at a stop light.
Different driving modes offer a customized driving experience
Fuel economy is rated for 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, which was pretty close to what was observed during testing. Eco mode helped achieve better fuel economy, especially on short road trips. In other situations, putting the 2023 Lexus NX 350 in Sport mode did the job. While some shoppers might find the F SPORT package unnecessary, it added some suspension upgrades and unique styling.
Our tester had some other helpful additions, such as the Cold Area Package and Digital Inner Mirror. The upgraded triple-beam headlights and wireless charging were some additional creature comforts. After all of the additions and F SPORT upgrades, this version came out to $55,830.
A driver-focused cabin is a Lexus trademark
Stepping into the 2023 Lexus NX 350, you might notice that the cabin is focused on the driver. Lexus calls this a driver-inspired cockpit and wanted to inspire a connection between the SUV and whoever might be driving. Thanks to that, all of the controls and touchscreen are arranged in a way that makes everything easy to find.
Even after driving for a few hours, the steering wheel was still comfortable. The automaker says the design is curved to align with our hands, which is more comfortable than the traditional design. On top of that, we found the power rear door so helpful. It also has a kick sensor which means you can open and close the back door while your hands are full.
It is clear Lexus put a lot of thought into the design and creation of the 2023 Lexus NX 350 F SPORT. This compact luxury SUV excels in all the categories thrown its way and makes the daily commute a little more bearable. With the addition of an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus award, the NX 350 is heavy on the pros and light on the cons.
