Honda finally revealed the long-awaited 2022 Civic Si in October. It’s a turbocharged sedan with 200 horsepower and a manual transmission starting at $27,300. Recently, Honda released the Civic Si configurator, which allows customers to customize their Civic Si to their liking, and it’s about time. The Honda Civic Si is one of the most anticipated performance vehicles on the market this year, but like any other vehicle, the question stands of is it worth the money? The answer is yes, and here’s why.

Honda Civic Si vs. Si HPT

The Civic Si comes in two different trims. The base has the same 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 200 horsepower, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, and that’s the only choice in the way of powertrains. Customers can choose from two all-season packages, the “Protection Package 1”, which may or may not indicate a second level protection package to follow, and an HPD package. The second trim, the Si HPT, comes with high-performance summer tires and costs $200 extra, and that’s the only difference. There are optional 18-inch black alloy wheels as well for both trims, costing $1,706.

All-season packages offer very little

Honda’s first level of the all-season protection package costs $400 and includes a set of splash guards, floor mats, and a trunk tray. The second all-season protection package has the floor mats and trunk tray, and chrome wheel locks. This costs a further $350. The regular protection package 1 includes the same accessories as the second all-season protection package, presumably minus the accessories meant for all seasons. It’s a bit confusing, but clearly, don’t bother with the protection packages unless you’re a stickler for cleanliness. 

HDP Package and accessories

The HDP package is the only package left for the Civic Si and Si HPT. For $1,112, you get a spoiler for the front, side, and rear. If you want a sportier-looking Civic Si, this might be the package for you, but otherwise, it’s a tough price to justify. In terms of accessories, Honda is offering several accents to the exterior, a moonroof visor for $159, and all the spoilers from the HDP package sold separately. 

The splash guards and chrome wheel locks are available as separate accessories as well. Interior accessories include a cargo hook and net, window shades, the trunk tray from the all-season packages, and trunk tray dividers. The last accessory is an $87 engine block heater, which is a good idea if you live in an area with freezing temperatures. 

How much is the most expensive 2022 Honda Civic Si?

A fully loaded 2022 Honda Civic Si, with every accessory and package, as well as the Blazing Orange Pearl paint ($400) and 18-inch black alloy wheels, comes out to $33,057. It’s an extra $6,000 (roughly) for some spoilers, splash guards, and wheels. The accessories were lacking, as well as the package contents. However, despite all that disappointment, the car still presents a fantastic value. That being said, the Civic Si HPT is the best option, sans packages and accessories for an outstanding $29,206 MSRP.
