It’s time for the fans of a boxy legend to celebrate. The Honda Element was taken too soon, leaving a gap in the hearts of adventurers for years. However, based on a new patent, the Honda Element could return soon.

Are they making a new Honda Element?

Based on a few rumors and an official patent, the Honda Element could make a comeback. The last Element was made in 2011, so people have been obsessed with this discontinued SUV for roughly 13 years.

As the automotive industry continues moving toward rugged, boxy, and more cable SUVs for car camping and overlanding, Honda is missing out on a huge portion of the market share.

Sure, there are TrailSport variants of the Ridgeline and Pilot, but they don’t have what made the Element so special.

Two patents were filed in 2022 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in December 2022. They were recently published on June, 27 and show a boxy SUV that resembles the shape of the Element.

However, the second image shows a camper attachment that extends from the rear to create more space. It seems like an upgraded Element

With the original SUV, the raised roof and low cargo floor made it possible to stand in the cabin. Also, it was wide enough for a full-size mattress to lay flat on the floor.

With an extended camper space, people can enjoy even more room without needing a rooftop tent, camper, or sleeping on the ground.

Plus, the Element is known for being dog-friendly. Original models had a built-in space in the rear for a dog bed and water. The low liftover height asl made it easy to load larger dogs. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if these patents have something special for fuzzy best friends.

It also had a cult following for being extremely reliable. I’ve seen some Element models with over 600,000 miles on the odometer. The models with manual transmissions lasted even longer.

If the Honda Element is making a return, it has a huge reputation to live up to. But I believe Honda could pull it off.
