Honda Models That Achieve 40 MPG or More
Back in 1969, Honda started sales of its cars in the United States. That first model was the N600. Even back then, Honda was on a mission to create and distribute fuel-efficient vehicles. That little car achieved 36 miles-per-gallon. Today is no different, except that Honda has many more models available with great fuel economy ratings. But how many get forty or more miles-per-gallon?
The Data
There are multiple classes of vehicles represented on the list compiled below. Mileage ratings and starting prices are as noted on automobiles.honda.com. Although most of the vehicles are cars, there was one crossover. Worth noting is that some of the vehicles do not use gasoline. So, they have the rating based on “MPGe,” or miles-per-gallon-equivalent, a metric from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Here’s a list of the current vehicles in Honda’s lineup that achieve forty miles-per-gallon or more.

Honda is leaps and bounds ahead of some of its competition. There are six Honda models on this list achieving forty miles-per-gallon or more. Competitors like Chevrolet, Ford, and Dodge are heading in the direction of increased fuel efficiency as well. However, right now, those three manufacturers only have four models combined between them that can reach the forty miles-per-gallon target. For the time being, Honda is more than likely happy with that shortcoming on their part.
