What is going on with the Honda Ridgeline? We’re used to seeing this truck at the top of lists, not the bottom. However, the 2022 Honda Ridgeline is facing a potentially severe problem. It has the worst resale value of all trucks. 

Does the 2022 Honda Ridgeline have a good resale value? 

No, not exactly. According to MotorTrend, the 2022 Honda Ridgeline has the worst resale value out of every single truck available. The Ridgeline only maintains about 56.9 percent of its value after five years of ownership. 

Meanwhile, other options like the Toyota Tacoma retain about 77.5 percent of their value after five years. Other trucks on the list of vehicles with low resale values include the Nissan Frontier, Ram 1500, Ford Ranger, and GMC Sierra 3500. So, at least the Ridgeline isn’t alone. 

But the average vehicle only retains about 50.6 percent of its resale value, so each truck on this list is above average. There are still plenty of great things about the Ridgeline to consider, even if it holds a little less worth. 

Why doesn’t the Ridgeline hold its value? 

The 2022 Honda Ridgeline is an excellent truck to consider because of its reliability, high quality, and capable performance. Critics favorite this truck for its smooth driving dynamics and interior comfort. 

However, truck drivers often claim that the Ridgeline isn’t a real truck. It has a unibody design instead of a traditional body-on-frame build. This can limit off-roading and towing capabilities while improving its handling. 

Plus, the Ridgeline is available with all-wheel drive instead of four-wheel drive. It doesn’t have the ground clearance, underbody protection, or low-range gearing that’s necessary to keep up with 4WD trucks. 

The Ridgeline comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 280-hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the Ridgeline can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.2 seconds. 

When properly equipped, the Ridgeline can tow up to 5,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,583 lbs. It’s a little weaker than its rivals. 

The Honda Ridgeline starts at $38,140, making it one of the most expensive midsize trucks. But it has standard AWD, LED headlights, automatic tri-zone climate control, an 8-inch infotainment system, and tons of safety features. 

How reliable is the Ridgeline? 

Consumer Reports gives the 2022 Honda Ridgeline an above-average reliability rating, which is great. This ranking is based on issues that owners reported in previous model years. It looks like the 2018 Ridgeline has the most problems that may have been solved. 

With proper care and maintenance, the Honda Ridgeline can make it past 200,000 miles. The Toyota Tacoma can make it past 300,000 miles. However, some Ridgeline owners have reached 350,000 miles. 

You should be able to get your money’s worth if you hold onto a Ridgeline model for its’ lifetime. But other trucks could be worth more if you only want an option for about five years. 

This doesn’t mean the Ridgeline is a bad truck. It’s sporty, has innovative storage solutions, it’s durable, and it provides unmatched interior comfort. It could have a lower resale value due to its high starting price and lower capabilities.
