Hooning Icon Ken Block Killed in Snowmobile Accident
Rally driving, racing icon Ken Block was killed after suffering injuries in a snowmobile accident. He was 55. On Instagram from January 2, 2023, Block posted information about snowmobiling in northern Utah, near his residence in Park City.
From thehoonigans on Instagram:
“It’s with our deepest regrets that we confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today. Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed. Please respect the family’s privacy at this time while they grieve.”
Block is survived by his wife Lucy, daughter Lia, and car enthusiasts around the world. From his Gymkhana videos, World Rally Championship competitions, Pikes Peak attempts, rallying, and much more, he amazed and entertained us all. Block recently left Ford and began working with Audi and its engineers on the all-electric Hoonitron S1. We got a full view of it in one of Block’s Gymkhana videos.
Block was one of those rare drivers that not only had the talents necessary to compete but also was a savvy entrepreneur and businessman. After launching his successful DC Shoes for skaters, he began countless successes with his Hoonigan brand. His crazy stunt videos garnered a large following of millions.
At this point, there is nothing official coming out of Utah beyond the Instagram post, so we have no further information. When we do we’ll update this post.
