How the Aston Martin Vantage Formula 1 Safety Car Helped Drive Millions in Revenue
If you have been following Formula 1 in the last few seasons, you know what a big deal the sport has become. Even though the Miami Grand Prix is making headlines for being a little too much, there were still millions of eyes on the event. Thanks to that popularity, Aston Martin has seen a boost in sales of the Vantage F1 Edition thanks to the new eyes on its Formula 1 Safety Cars.
Aston Martin’s Vantage is the Formula 1 safety car for the 2023 season
According to Business Insider, the use of Aston Martin’s Vantage might have led to around $80 million in sales. When Lawrence Stroll discussed the safety cars on the hit show “Drive to Survive” on Netflix, he noted some of the benefits of having so many new eyes on the brand. The interviewer suggested that many fans of F1 already know about Aston Martin, but he offered some insight.
“There’s an expression, I didn’t believe it but we’re actually experiencing it: race on Sunday, sell on Monday.”

The safety car is deployed on the track to lead the race cars at a slower pace when there is some type of incident. This season has already seen many instances where the Aston Martin Racing Green car can be seen on the track.
How did the Formula 1 Safety Car boost sales?
Stroll went on to say that utilizing the new Vantage F1 Edition as the safety car has undoubtedly helped with sales. Since its release as a safety car, Aston Martin has sold between 300 and 400 of the Vantage F1 edition vehicle. “Sounds like a small number, but for a company of our size, it’s relatively important,” Stroll noted.
Even though the Aston Martin Vantage F1 edition is priced at around $200,000, selling 300 or more of those is more than $60 million in sales. On the higher end, $80 million in sales is linked to the Formula 1 safety car. Last year, Aston Martin sold 6,400 vehicles, around $1.74 billion in revenue. People might have purchased the sports car anyway, but the Vantage F1 Edition is a hot-ticket item. You can’t drive a Formula 1 car to work, but you can get pretty close with this special edition.
Aston Martin also has the DBX707 Medical Car, which has helped with sales of the brand’s first SUV. The DBX is often seen zooming around the track to assist after any incidents in the classic Aston Martin Racing Green colors.
How fast is the Vantage F1 Edition?
Aston Martin’s Vantage F1 Edition comes in both the Coupe and Roadster body styles. The coupe has a top speed of 195 mpg and 527 bhp. The zero to 62 mph time is 3.5 seconds, thanks to the 4.0L twin-turbo engine. The maximum speed for the roadster body style is 190 mph and 3.6 seconds.
Three exterior paint color options are Aston Martin Racing Green, Jet Black, and Lunar White with gloss or satin finish. The automaker added a comprehensive aero kit and dynamic tuning for more on-road excitement.
While the Formula 1 season is having an off-week, it will be back with the Italian Grand Prix next week. Fernando Alonso is in third place for the Aston Martin team, and Lance Stroll is in eighth place. Team Aston Martin is in second place for the 2023 Constructor Standings, just behind Red Bull. You can find Aston Martin vehicles on track in many ways this season, so keep an eye out next week during the race.
