Finally, there is a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine optional on the SLE, SLT, and Denali, that is capable of 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Each of these engine options is matched to a 10-speed transmission. The AT4 comes standard with four-wheel drive, but it’s only optional on the other trim levels.

Consumer Reports ranks the 2022 Chevy Suburban #4 on its large SUVs list and the 2022 GMC Yukon XL #5. It’s not a huge difference, but with two SUVs that are so similar, it could possibly be the deciding factor in which SUV you choose.

The Suburban gets an overall score of 41 from Consumer Reports, while the Yukon has a score of just 40. The predicted reliability rating for both SUVs is a dismal 1/5. In addition, the Suburban beats the Yukon’s road test score by one point at a 76 to 75. Both SUVs have a predicted owner satisfaction score of 4.

Both the 2022 GMC Yukon XL and the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban are great extra-large SUVs that are so similar, it’s hard to choose between them. If you have to choose one,, the Chevy Suburban is the same solid SUV for less money. If you want a touch of luxury though, you’ll probably be happy with the Yukon XL.
