Another trendy option on the mid-size truck list is the Honda Ridgeline. It’s not exactly a fan-favorite, but it’s gaining tractions among consumers. What the 2020 Chevy Colorado does well

The best thing about the Chevy Colorado is its power. Base models come with a four-cylinder that generates a 181-horsepower; it’s also pretty fuel-efficient. Other engine options include a strong V6 and a turbodiesel alternative. The Colorado can tow up to 7,000 pounds when properly equipped. Overall, this pickup drives smoothly, but comfort is debatable. If you are interested in off-roading, the Colorado also has two trim levels designed just for that.

Another standout aspect of the Chevy Colorado is its infotainment features. In fact, Chevy has one of the best infotainment systems on the market. The base models come with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. And we particularly love the available wifi hotspot.

Major downsides of the 2020 Chevy Colorado

As we mentioned earlier, the Chevy Colorado has one of the lowest predictability scores. Trouble spots for this model include the transmission, which has been an area of concern since the 2015 redesign. Some drivers also complain about the Colorado’s cheap interior plastic features which can break easily. Other drivers have found the infotainment system to be glitchy at times.

What 2020 Honda Ridgeline does well

The 2020 Honda Ridgeline is celebrated for excelling in the areas the Colorado does poorly in  With the Ridgeline, you get an extremely comfortable, upscale cabin. The cabin is spacious and the seats are accomodating; it’s actually considered as the most comfortable cabin in its class. Cargo space is plentiful too.

When it comes to the overall driving experience, the Ridgeline is quick and agile. It features a 280-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. This sole engine option remains fuel-efficient in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It’s also important to mention that the off-roading capability is about the same on each Ridgeline trim level. 

Safety is also a great aspect of the Ridgeline. It has excellent crash-test scores and comes with a suite of advanced safety features. The most notable safety features include standard forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assistance.

Major downsides of the 2020 Honda Ridgeline

While the Ridgeline feels upscale and comfortable, it doesn’t come close to the performance and capability of the likes of the Chevy Colorado. The Ridgeline has a max towing capacity of 3500 pounds which is on the lower end for its class. Drivers also complain of the cumbersome infotainment system.

Choosing between the Chevy Colorado and Honda Ridgeline

Even though they are in the same pickup class, the Chevy Colorado and Honda Ridgeline are almost polar opposites. The Colorado is a conventional pickup that’s strong and powerful;  the Ridgeline is untraditional and lush. If your main priorities are comfort and average utility, then consider the Ridgeline. The Colorado is designed for drivers who want a mid-size truck that offers tons of power and not much else.
