Ford F-150 builds and modifications run across an entire spectrum. Some are made for off-roading, with Ford’s own F-150 Raptor and Hennessey’s VelociRaptor 6×6 filling the roles of Baja racers. Others, like the Harley-Davidson edition, are built more for style. Roush Performance has provided parts and tuning for both ends. The tuner can supercharge the F-150’s V8 up to 600 hp. However, its latest F-150 package is less about brutal desert speed, and more for rock-crawling in style.

What comes with the Roush Ford F-150?

Roush badging and logos are everywhere, for one. As Car and Driver notes, the Roush F-150 even gets puddle lights that display the Roush “R” logo when the doors are open. However, Roush’s modifications are more than just cosmetic.

The standard wheels are replaced with 20” matte-black ones, with 33” General Grabber AT/X tires. Roush also upgrades the suspension with Fox 2.0 coil-over shocks and a lift kit. However, according to The Drive, Roush also performed its own custom suspension tuning. The Roush package also features fender flares, and the Roush grille comes with additional integrated lighting. The engine, though, doesn’t receive any additional power.

But Roush does install a dual-tip cat-back performance exhaust. And there’s an optional trick the tuner can also install for the exhaust. Roush F-150 buyers can use an iOS app to remotely change the exhaust’s mode. Four are available: off-road, sport, touring, and custom.

There are quite a few more optional extras. On the outside, buyers can fit a Roush Chase bar in the bed, with a pair of integrated 10” light bars. The bed can also be covered by an optional aluminum cover. Roush can also fit the F-150 with a leather interior, complete with Roush-embroidered headrests. And for those going hiking, and worried about thieves breaking in, Roush has you covered. The Roush F-150 can be ordered with a combo-locked center console vault.

Roush F-150 cost and availability

The Roush package is available right now at select Ford dealers. The package can be fitted to any XLT or Lariat F-150. Although Roush has not released pricing details for all the options, the package starts at $13,750. A base XLT starts at $34,510, making a Roush F-150 XLT cost just over $48k.

How does the Roush truck compare to the Raptor?

The Roush F-150 is, at least in base form, cheaper than the F-150 Raptor, which starts at just over $53,000. And the Roush truck does feature similar upgrades to the Raptor, such as the all-terrain tires and Fox shocks.

However, the F-150 Raptor does have several advantages. The Raptor has more off-road features, such as front and rear skid plates, off-road-capable cruise control, and an expanded driving-mode system. The F-150 Raptor’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 also makes more power and torque than even the 5.0-liter V8.

There is a way to get a Roush F-150 that’s faster and more powerful, though. For $19,150, Roush can make you an F-150 Nitemare. With a supercharged attached to the 5.0-liter V8, the F-150 Nitemare makes 650 hp and 610 lb-ft. With an alleged 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds, Roush claim it’s the fastest production truck on the market. But Roush admits the Nitemare is purely a street truck.

In short, the Roush F-150 is a stylish off-roader. But if you’re asking for more speed, Ford’s own F-150 Raptor is still the better choice.
