How Many Jeep Grand Cherokee Trims Are There?
The announcement of the brand new 2022 model year Jeep Grand Cherokee brings a lot of questions to the table. One of which is what trims are available? Some of the trim levels have changed for this new model year, and of course, the hybrid powertrain is introduced. Jeep Grand Cherokee trim levels are important, they can mean the difference between a luxury SUV or an off-road mudder. How many Jeep Grand Cherokee trims are there?
Jeep Grand Cherokee trims
There are seven total Jeep Grand Cherokee trim levels. The trim levels are titled Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Trailhawk, Summit, and Summit Reserve. The standard engine on all of the trims is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. The Overland and higher trims can also be fitted with Jeep’s award-winning 5.7-liter V8 engine. The Limited trim and higher are able to get the brand new hybrid powertrain. The all-new 4xe features a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4, two electric motors, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is the first hybrid system available to any Jeep Grand Cherokee, new for the 2022 model year.
Both the exterior and interior have evolved for this new year’s Grand Cherokee design. A gloss black roof is available on Overland models and comes standard on Trailhawk, Summit, and Summit Reserve. Other new exterior changes and improvements are standard on all trims. For the interior, all major changes are the same on all trims with a single exception. An all-new premium full-suite of customizable LED lighting with day/night settings is standard, but true ambient lighting with a five-color selection is not. This feature is available only on Overland, Summit, and Summit reserve models.
Standard features
Starting with the lowest Laredo trim level of Jeep Grand Cherokee, there are a lot of standard features included. The following list does not include the list of standard safety features, which is also quite large. The standard engine offers 295 hp and gets up to 26 highway mpg.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee can be reserved right now and will release in the Winter of 2021. This newly redesigned Jeep is a powerful, off-road capable SUV that nearly crosses the line into luxury territory. The 4×4 capability combined with the new 4xe engine makes it a uniquely versatile vehicle. The Jeep Grand Cherokee started at $34,970 for the 2021 model year and will likely do the same for 2022. The higher trim levels are still affordable and offer a lot to owners. Towing capacity for the 4xe engine is beyond what most would imagine, at 6,000 pounds. Even Stellantis seemed impressed with its own announcement.
