There’s a lot to consider when buying a new car. Between deciding what type of vehicle to buy and which brand to shop, buying a new car really isn’t as simple as you might think. Can you count on a Ford to be reliable?

Odds are, if you’re shopping for a new car, you want it to be reliable. And why wouldn’t you? I mean, who really wants to buy a car that isn’t made to last and will spend half of its time at the shop? No one, that’s who. That said, reliability is kind of a mixed bag for Ford.

According to Consumer Reports, several Ford models earned some pretty disappointing reliability ratings. Numerous models, including the Ford Expedition and the Ford EcoSport, earned less than a three out of five predicted reliability rating. The Ford Explorer even earned a low rating of one out of five. This year’s new Ford Edge did, however, earn a four out of five predicted reliability rating from Consumer Reports.

But here’s the thing, Consumer Reports isn’t the only one doling out reliability ratings. In fact, according to Repair Pal, Ford earned a 3.5 out of 5.0 reliability rating, which ranks it 21st out of 32 for all car brands. While that’s certainly not the highest rating Ford could have earned, it isn’t all that bad either.

How many miles a Ford will last for

Yet, the question remains. How many miles will a Ford last for? Fortunately, iSee Cars has done the research to answer that question exactly. And, after analyzing more than 11.8 million cars sold in 2020 to determine which brands boast the most models that are likely to reach 200,000-miles, you can expect a new Ford to last for a reasonably long time. In fact, according to iSee Cars, 1.4% of Ford models sold in 2020 reached 200,000-miles and beyond.

While that is undoubtedly good news, unfortunately, Ford didn’t rank as one of the longest-lasting brands out there. Instead, that honor went to Toyota. As for other brands that topped Ford on the list? Those included Honda, Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC.

These Ford models will last for miles to come

Now, let’s talk about how many miles certain Ford models will last. According to iSee Cars, the longest-lasting Ford model is the Ford Expedition. It can last a pretty long time too. iSee Cars reports that 4.9% of Ford Expedition models sold in 2020 surpassed the 200,000-mile mark. The Ford F-150 also had 2.0% of models sold in 2020 reach 200,000-miles and beyond.
