When you think of a compact car that easily turn the odometer to the tune of 200,000 or even a million miles, which car comes to mind? A Honda Civic? A Toyota Corolla? Well, you wouldn’t be wrong, but you might also be surprised that a Hyundai Elantra could put down those miles as well.

A used Hyundai Elantra will last longer than you might think

The Hyundai Elantra has been in the market for the past 30 years and was recently redesigned for the 2021 model year. However, if you’re on the hunt for an inexpensive commuter car, then you’ll find that a used Hyundai Elantra is a far cheaper option than its Japanese competitors. And while you might be reluctant to pick an older model Elantra, you can rest assured that it can last for many years and many more miles.

Taking a look at Car Complaints, there aren’t many filed complaints about the first few generations of the Hyundai Elantra. Also, Tavarish – a well-known YouTuber – purchased a 2012 Elantra with 165,000 miles on the odometer and he couldn’t help but gush about what great shape it was in given the mileage. We’re not too surprised considering Repair Pal rates the Hyundai Elantra as a four out of five stars when it comes to overall reliability and there are many positive owner testimonials on that site noting how great the car is.

A new 2021 Hyundai Elantra should last a long time as well

If you happen to be in the market for a new car, then the 2021 Hyundai Elantra would serve you well. While it still competes with reliability champions like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, the all-new Elantra holds its own with new styling, new tech-savvy features, and a tried-and-true 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine. Although, a new hybrid powertrain is also available.

Consumer Reports gave the 2021 Elantra a “predicted reliability” score of three out of five, which is pretty good, but what’s even better is the 87 out of 100 scores that JD Power gave it for reliability and quality.

In case you will have any woes about buying a new or used Hyundai Elantra, then you can always rely on the brand’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
