But how many miles can you actually expect a Subaru model to last? After all, according to Subaru, 97% of the vehicles it sold in the last 10 years are still on the road today. Well, according to iSee Cars, which analyzed 15.8 million cars sold in 2019 to determine the brands with the most vehicles that are likely to reach 200,000-miles, 0.6% of models sold in 2019 reached 200,000-miles and beyond. Unfortunately, iSee Cars reports that the average for all models sold in 2019 is 1.0%, meaning that the automaker’s numbers fell well below the average.

How well do Subarus hold their value?

But if you’re after a vehicle that holds its value, you really can’t go wrong with a new Subaru. Because, according to CarEdge, the brand reigns supreme when it comes to retained value after three, five, and seven years of ownership. CarEdge added that Subarus have consistently held their value better than other car brands over the years, too, making them the perfect pick for car shoppers in the market for a vehicle that offers long-term value. 

But let’s talk about which model holds its value the best. According to CarEdge, that honor goes to the BRZ, which CarEdge reports will depreciate 38% after five years and have a five-year resale value of $20,026. Following closely behind is the Crosstrek, which according to CarEdge, will depreciate 42% after five years and have a five-year resale value of $16,147. 

And if neither of those vehicles is really your style? The Impreza is also known for holding its value and, according to CarEdge, will depreciate 43% after five years and have a five-year resale value of $13,383.
