How Many Miles Will a Toyota Sequoia Last?
The Toyota Sequoia has been around since the turn of the century and although its current design is getting a little long in the tooth, it’s still a great family hauler that can last for years. And while we all know that Toyotas are well-known for being reliable, in general, just how many miles will a Toyota Sequoia last?
The Toyota Sequoia can last for many years
If you’re planning on purchasing a new or used Toyota Sequoia, it turns out that you can depend on it outlasting almost any other vehicle you have probably owned. The Sequoia landed in the No. 2 spot on iSeeCars’ list of the “Top Longest-Lasting Cars,” in which it was rated to be nine times more likely to reach 200,000 miles than most other vehicles. “Like the Land Cruiser, the Toyota Sequoia is built on a truck platform, so it has the durability of a truck and seating for up to eight passengers, making it a capable family hauler that is able to endure high mileage,” said iSeeCars CEO Phong Ly.
J.D. Power also gave the Toyota Sequoia a rating of 84 out of 100 in the “quality and reliability” category and Motors and Wheels reported that Sequoia owners have said that their vehicles have lasted between 250,000 to 300,000. That means that if you were driving the SUV for 15,000 miles per year, it should technically last you around 17 to 20 years. It’s no wonder that Toyota named it after one of the oldest trees on the planet.
The Toyota Sequoia is one of the most rugged family haulers
As we can see, the Sequoia’s longevity is a testament to Toyota’s impeccable build quality, however, the three-row SUV also makes for a spacious and rugged family hauler. Are you afraid of the minivan stigma? No problem!
The Sequoia can seat up to eight people with plenty of space for each person and what’s even better is that it can haul you and your family up almost any mountain and down the rockiest of terrains, thanks to its nearly 10 inches of ground clearance and its stout, 381-hp V8 engine. Needless to say, the Sequoia dwarfs just about anything else on the road, so if a full-size SUV is what you need, then this is the answer.
Additionally, the Sequoia is available with all of the tech features that your family would need including a rear-seat entertainment system, Bluetooth, and a premium JBL audio system. And you’ll never need to worry about comfortable as the Sequoia has leather seats that are comfortable enough for a long, cross-country drive.
What are the best Toyota Sequoia models years to buy?
In case you don’t have an extra $60,000 to spend for a new 2021 Toyota Sequoia, then you can always buy an older one. Toyota’s full-size SUV has been on the market since 2001 and you can currently pick up one of the second-generation models – from 2004 to 2007 – for around $5,000 to $12,000. These models come with full leather seating, a 282-hp V8 engine, and can tow up 6,200 pounds.
If you want something newer, then you can always look into a 2008-2012 model, which sells for anywhere between $11,000 and $30,000. These models had a few more upgrades including the larger 5.7-liter V8 that you will still find in the new one, trailer-sway control, and blind-spot monitoring. Honestly, no matter which model year Toyota Sequoia you choose, you really can’t go wrong, and you can expect it to last for many years to come.
