How Many Miles Will an Acura ILX Last?
Have you ever wanted a Honda Civic Si, but felt like you were just too old for it? Or have you ever wanted the practicality and affordability of a regular Civic, but wanted something just a little bit nicer? If so, that’s essentially what Acura’s entry-level sedan, the ILX, was meant to be.
And while the ILX is still currently in the brand’s lineup, it’s been around for years and can be had for cheap on the used market. And if you end up searching for one of those, then you might be wondering just how many miles an Acura ILX will last.
Even the older Acura ILX has a lot of life left in it
The Acura ILX first appeared on the market back in 2013 as the brand’s entry-level sedan. Back then it came in three different flavors: base, hybrid, and 2.4. The latter of which was essentially a gussied-up Civic Si since it had the same 201-hp, 2.4-liter engine under the hood that was connected to a six-speed manual transmission. The hybrid model featured the same powertrain in the Civic Hybrid at the time and was capable of 38 mpg in combined driving, and the base ILX was powered by a 150-hp, 2.0-liter engine.
But no matter which used Acura ILX you choose, it should be able to last at least 200,000 miles or more. And if you need some visual proof, then Tyson Hugie, an Acura ambassador and mileage master, can attest to his ILX’s longevity as he logged over 200,000 miles on in only five years. He even drove through most of the U.S. with no major issues along the way.
The 2021 Acura ILX can set you down a path of reliability
Over the years, Acura refreshed the ILX a couple of times — changing its overall look inside and out and dropping the hybrid and base models – but its Civic underpinnings remained the same. Regardless of the fact that some critics never considered it a “true luxury car” in comparison to rivals from Audi and BMW, the ILX has always been more about balancing practicality with reliability and fuel-efficiency, which is why the automaker “trimmed the fat” on the ILX by only offering it with the 2.4-liter engine and an eight-speed DCT transmission from the 2019 model year going forward.
If you would rather opt for a new 2021 Acura ILX, then you’ll be happy to know that it should last at least 200,000 miles or more. Consumer Reports gave the new ILX a reliability rating of three out of five and JD Power rated it at 82 out of 100, which is considered “great” in their book. The new ILX is not only reliable, but it’s also safe as it now comes standard with Acura’s suite of driver-assist features, also known as AcuraWatch.
Will the Acura ILX be redesigned?
Considering the Acura ILX has gone through its fair share of changes and refreshes over the past eight years, we can’t help but wonder if it’s going to be redesigned for the 2022 model year. It’s possible, considering the automaker just redesigned the MDX and the TLX. Either way, we’re sure that any Acura ILX, new or used, will easily last you for many years and even more miles.
