There aren’t as many minivans still left on the market as you might think. The minivan name has long been synonymous with a family vehicle. Consequently, it has a bit of a stigma surrounding it. In recent years, the SUV and crossover segments have all but completely eliminated the minivan. What was once one of the only options for a family needing seating for seven, has become less necessary. Large SUVs and even midsize and crossovers now have optional third-row seating. The disrespect of minivans has gone on for far too long. In 2021, they’re as nice a vehicle as you’ll find with that amount of space. Moden minivans are luxurious, spacious, and filled with amenities any driver would appreciate. Which automakers produce minivans and how many are still on the market?

In total, six minivans from four different automakers remain on the market as of 2021. Chrysler, Kia, Honda, and Toyota are the four still with minivan offerings in their lineups. Both Chrysler and Kia still have two different minivan models, and Honda and Toyota only have one. The 2021 model year minivans are much nicer than expected, and if you’re in need of the space they provide, they’re definitely a great option.

New minivans look good, are extremely comfortable, and have plenty of space. A family with multiple children, pets, and whatever else you need to drive around can easily fit inside one. If you haven’t paid attention, there’s a lot of new tech and features inside minivans you might’ve missed. They’re a legitimate luxury vehicle option, and we can recommend the best ones.

Chrysler Pacifica

The Chrysler Pacifica received a minor redesign for the 2021 model year. It also has an optional hybrid powertrain for those long hours driving a large family around. All-wheel drive is available on the non-hybrid models, making it competitive with even most SUVs. On the interior of the Pacifica, you’ll find a 10.1-inch infotainment system and stow ‘n go seats in non-AWD and hybrid variants. The ability to stow away seats for even more cargo space makes this one of the most spacious interiors available for both passengers and cargo. The 2021 Pacifica starts at a reasonable $36,245 but can reach as high as nearly $51,000.

Honda Odyssey

The Honda Odyssey is one of the most popular minivans of all time, and for good reason. The Odyssey does not have an all-wheel drive option but comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. Multiple quality technology updates came with the new 2021 model year as well. The base LX model has the same driver-assistance features as the rest of the lineup, like adaptive cruise control and automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The Odyssey averages an EPA estimated 28 highway mpg. Honda’s minivan features Magic Slide seats standard on EX and higher trims, which slide side to side and forward and back for any configuration you need.

Toyota Sienna

The Toyota Sienna received a brand new look for the 2021 model year. The fourth-generation Sienna now has a standard hybrid powertrain with optional all-wheel drive available. It also leads the class in gas mileage, with 36 combined mpg. An upgraded infotainment system and technology are newly featured on the interior. It also received a 10/10 safety rating from U.S. News & World Report. The first year of the new generation attempts to catch up with the class-leading Honda Odyssey. The Sienna starts at just $34,460 for the LE trim and reaches as high as almost $50,000 for the fully loaded Platinum.

There aren’t that many minivans left on the market but the ones that remain are much nicer than most people would ever think. Don’t let the stigma surrounding minivans stop you if you’re interested in one, as they’re a great option for a family vehicle. They can also come in a bit cheaper than a lot of SUVs offering similar space and performance. The other minivans left on the market that didn’t make this list of best minivans are the Chrysler Voyager, Kia Sedona, and Kia Carnival. That’s why the answer to “how many minivans are still on the market?” is six.
