The 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV price starts at $39,785, and this price includes the $1,295. The price doesn’t include dealership markups, and the Sportage PHEV no longer qualifies for the federal EV tax credit. 

The top-spec Sportage X-Line Prestige increases the price to about $44,825. However, we don’t have a detailed list of what comes with each trim yet. 

You can get started in a 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime for about $40,300, and the 2022 Hyundai Tucscon PHEV begins at around $35,400. The 2022 Ford Escape PHEV comes in at $35,455. The destination fee isn’t included with these prices. 

While you can save with the Tucson and Escape, the Sportage may come with enough standard features and power to be worth the extra cash. 

Is the Sportage PHEV worth buying? 

Yes, the 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV is an excellent SUV to consider. It’s considered to be the current class leader and includes plenty of value. For example, the Sportage PHEV comes with standard all-wheel drive. 

The Sportage PHEV is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, 13.8-kWh battery pack, and an electric motor that combine to generate 261 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 6 mph in about 7.2 seconds, which is pretty good. 

According to Green Car Reports, the Sportage PHEV has an estimated electric range of 34 miles and could get about 80 MPGe. These figures haven’t been confirmed by the EPA. It has the same setup as the Tucson. 

The Ford Escape PHEV has an electric range of 37 miles and gets an estimated 40 mpg once the battery is depleted. It can reach 60 mph in about 8.7 seconds. 

When properly equipped, the Kia Sportage PHEV can tow up to 2,500 lbs. It provides 39.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat with up to 74.1 cubes total. It offers more cargo space than its rivals. 

The Sportage PHEV has the highest amount of regenerative braking charge, so more power is returned to the battery. Also, it will recharge while Hill Descent Control is being used. It has 8.3-inches of ground clearance.

Yes, the 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV is loaded with modern tech and luxurious comfort. The 12.3-inch dual panoramic displays provide crucial information for driving, navigation, and entertainment. 

For off-roading and convenience, you can opt for the available remote parking assist, 360-degree camera, locking differential, and LED headlights. 

The interior has ventilated seats, a wireless phone charging pad, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof with a shade, and a smart power tailgate. 

Standard safety features include high beam assist, automatic emergency brain, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot warning, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, rear parking sensors, rear passenger alert, and safe exit warning.
