The Dodge Challenger returned triumphantly as a retro-inspired coupe for the 2008 model year. Since then, it’s dutifully served as an old-school muscle car with rear-wheel drive, multiple V8 engine options, an available manual transmission, a reasonable price, and heritage styling done just right. A wide range of trim levels gives the Challenger lineup a nice variety.

It’s not hard to see why the Dodge Challenger is popular. It’s truer to its muscle car roots than its top rivals, the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro. It also has some practical benefits like available AWD and a bench back seat you can actually use.

The diverse Challenger lineup has significant gaps in price and horsepower between the low-end and the high-end. Let’s look at the trim levels in the Dodge Challenger lineup and see what you can expect to pay.

How much does the Dodge Challenger cost?

The 2023 Dodge Challenger starts at $31,100 for the base SXT trim. The V6-powered Challenger SXT is excellent for drivers who love the style of the Challenger but prioritize value and fuel efficiency over performance.

The modest price tag and 30 highway mpg rating don’t mean the V6 Challenger is boring. It still makes 302 hp, which is plenty for making the daily commute enjoyable. It’s also available with AWD and comes standard with some nice features like dual-zone automatic climate control, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

Upgrading to the GT trim costs $34,400. It retains the frugal V6 engine but has a more aggressive front end and upgrades the steering and suspension for RWD models.

Drivers who want to get into the V8 club without breaking the bank will be interested in the R/T model, starting at just under $40,000. Its Hemi V8 makes 375 hp, and you get the same steering and suspension upgrades as the GT trim, plus an active exhaust system and an available manual transmission.

Here’s how much a fully loaded 2023 Dodge Challenger costs

The SRT Super Stock model is the most expensive of all trim levels of the 2023 Dodge Challenger. It starts at $89,300, and with options, it can go over $108,000. The Super Stock trim is intended to be a factory drag car. It comes with fat drag radial tires, a rear seat delete option, a 3.09 rear axle ratio, and an 807-hp supercharged V8.

The next most expensive trim of the Challenger isn’t far behind. It’s the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak, which begins at $87,295. The Jailbreak models are highly customizable. You can choose your preferred colors for details like stripes, brake calipers, seat belts, and even the trim on the floor mats. Being a Hellcat Redeye, it has the same 807-hp V8 as the Super Stock model.

When you load up the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak with options like premium paint and wheels, satin black exterior graphics, performance tires, Laguna leather seats, copper weave carbon fiber trim, and the Technology Group, it can get very close to the $110,000 mark.

So, although the SRT Super Stock trim has the highest starting price in the Challenger lineup, the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak trim has a higher maximum price because of the extensive customization options.

Last call for the Challenger

Also of note is the 1,025-hp Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, which has a devilish starting MSRP of $96,666. We’re hesitant to call this a trim since it’s one of the coveted Last Call limited editions commemorating the end of the line for the gas-powered Challenger. This price can get pretty crazy with options like an $11,495 lightweight wheel package, a $5,995 premium interior package, and an unusually expensive $9,995 optional sunroof.

Don’t feel bad if you don’t have a six-figure budget for your next muscle car. The Dodge Challenger lineup has plenty of variety, offering something for everyone who craves an old-school two-door muscle car. Get a Challenger while you can before they’re gone.
