The Hyundai Nexo is back for 2023, and it’s still the automaker’s only fuel cell-powered vehicle. The Hyundai Nexo’s price is more than your average electrified SUV, but at least you can still get a sweet rebate on your purchase. Before any savings, how much can you expect to pay for the top-specced 2023 Hyundai Nexo?

What’s included in the Hyundai Nexo’s standard trim?

The Hyundai Nexo Blue price is the cheapest of the two trims, starting at $60,135. Its battery and fuel-cell stack both generate a combined 161 hp and 291 lb-ft of torque. It comes with front-wheel drive and a single-speed transmission. The Nexo Blue rides on 17-in alloy wheels and has an electric range of 380 miles. Hyundai promises that you can charge the car in as little as five minutes. 

Every Hyundai Nexo has five vegan H-Tex synthetic leather seats with power lumbar support and standard heating for the ones in the cabin. At the center of the cabin is a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with standard navigation and smartphone integration. Other highlights include a 10.25-in digital gauge cluster and a wireless charging pad. 

The Hyundai Nexo Blue has plenty of advanced driver safety systems, such as blind-spot monitors and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection. The standard safety suite also has parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, some lane-keeping features, and adaptive cruise control. Additionally, each Nexo comes with a three-year subscription to Blue Link. It’s an app that allows you to remotely start the car, lock its doors, and configure climate control settings.

Here’s how much the 2023 Hyundai Nexo Limited price is

The Hyundai Nexo Limited currently retails for $63,585 and doesn’t offer any additional powertrain options. Because it rides on 19-inch wheels, it has a lower estimated electric range of 354 miles. This trim also has standard roof rails, a tilt-and-slide sunroof, and a hands-free liftgate. 

The Hyundai Nexo Limited’s interior gains ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a Krell audio system to replace the standard one. Remote parking assist and a surround-view parking camera are added to the ADAS suite, plus you get rain-sensing windshield wipers. 

The 2023 Hyundai Nexo has just four exterior paint options, all of which can be added free of charge. It also currently doesn’t have any optional packages or upgrades. If you buy the Hyundai Nexo Limited at a dealership soon, you could get a special discount that knocks $30,000 off the Hyundai Nexo’s price. 

According to Hyundai, the offer is only available at select dealerships and will be valid until September 5. Should you take advantage of it and apply the maximum $4,500 rebate, your Hyundai Nexo Limited will only cost $29,085.

Who should buy a Hyundai Nexo?

Unless you live in California, you can’t even feasibly purchase a Hyundai Nexo in the first place. Thanks to the current state of the fuel cell charging infrastructure, California is the only one that houses the appropriate fueling stations. There’s also currently no way to refuel the Hyundai Nexo or any fuel cell car from your own garage. 

As for California residents, you’ll have to decide what’s most important to you when shopping for an EV. According to Car and Driver, the Hyundai Nexo isn’t particularly fun to drive, and it’s substantially slower than many other EVs. However, if you value range over speed, then you might be happy with a Hyundai Nexo. Still, remember that the Nexo probably isn’t the best car for out-of-state road trips. 

The Hyundai Nexo does offer promising headroom and legroom measurements for both rows, along with almost 57 cubic feet of cargo space. It’s certainly a great deal if you can get the highest trim for under $30,000. At full price, its value becomes a little more questionable.
