How Much Does a Fully Loaded 2024 Chevy Silverado EV Cost?
The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV was just officially revealed, and it is something to behold. GM has produced a range of electric versions of its most popular truck, providing a little something for everyone. What will the new Chevy electric truck include? Perhaps most importantly, how much does the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV cost?
How much will the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV cost?
The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV price starts at $39,900 for the Work Truck. This is the bottom of a very wide range. The Silverado EV Work Truck will be the first of Chevy’s electric trucks, according to CNBC. Yet it will be far from the last. Chevy is planning on releasing another version of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST limited edition at a staggering price of $105,000. So what will you get for that much money? GM’s CEO Mary Barra thinks the electric Silverado will be worth its six-digit price tag. “It will offer a revolutionary mix of capability, performance, safety, flexibility and design that catapults this electric truck for both fleet and retail customers into a category of its own.”
What is the electric Silverado release date?
Chevy is planning on releasing the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV in the spring of 2023. The Work Truck will be released first, followed by the electric Silverado RST. The RST will be able to make 664 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque. GM also says it will be pretty fast, and able to get from 0 to 60 in just 4.5 seconds. The Silverado RST will also have hands-free highway driving and 24-inch wheels.
The SIlverado EV will share a platform with the GMC Hummer electric truck. It will cost more than most other electric trucks on the market, like the Ford Lightning, which tops out at $90,874. It’s also more expensive than the Rivian R1T, which can cost around $100,000.
Is Chevy going to make more electric vehicles?
Not only will Chevy be making more electric vehicles, but GM wants to make only electric vehicles by 2035. This is in line with the goals of other car manufacturers, as more and more companies are moving away from internal combustion engines and towards electric cars, trucks, and SUVs. Trucks are some of the best-selling vehicles in the United States, and GM recognizes how important they’ll be moving forward. “The goal is to grow the company as we go through this transition; not to keep it flat or shrink it, so trucks need to play an outsized role in all of that,” says GM North America President Steve Carlisle.
The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is joining the electric pickup truck revolution. There are many coming out in the next couple of years, and the field is likely to grow. How the electric Chevrolet truck will fare against some pretty tough competition remains to be seen. Its high price may deter some people from buying it. On the other hand, others may appreciate its quality, electric powertrain, and features. And for others still, purchasing the electric Silverado may become a status symbol. We’ll have to wait until the spring of 2023 to see how it plays out.
