So, how much does a reasonably-equipped 2023 Prius cost? Using the Toyota Build and Price tool, I sought to find out. Here’s the result.

I live in the mountains of Northern Vermont, where harsh conditions are the norm. From below-zero mornings to rugged back roads, this area puts cars to the test. And as a snowboarder, I need a vehicle that gets me to the resort when the snow hits. So when building a Toyota Prius, I went with a function-first setup, without a lot of luxury add-ons.
With all-wheel drive essential, I picked the LE AWD trim ($28,850 plus destination). That includes a 196 hp hybrid powertrain that’s sporty and efficient. The AWD-e system combines a 2.0-liter ICE with a rear-mounted high-output permanent magnet electric motor, for all-wheel traction in demanding conditions. And fuel economy is an exceptional 53/54/54 mpg city/highway/combined.
Beyond that, the LE trim has plenty of standard equipment and not a lot of fluff. Fabric-trimmed seats are just fine with me, with durability and comfort for any adventure. Six USB-C charge ports bring useful tech. And the 8.0-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system—with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, hands-free calling, and Bluetooth—adds seamless connectivity.
It’s also reassuring knowing Toyota Safety Sense is standard. This suite of driver’s assistance technology includes Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. The Prius is one safe ride.

With a solid setup so far, I next turned to packages and options. I wanted only add-ons I could use and appreciate, without anything needlessly increasing the price. Central to my picks were curb appeal and all-weather protection.
Exterior-wise, the new Prius defines sleek. And for me, Midnight Black Metallic paint only increases its street presence. To continue the theme, I went with a gradient black interior.
Snow and gravel can do a number on a car’s interior and finish. Because of that, I added all-weather floor liners and a cargo liner for $299. And selecting mudguards for $150 brought vital body protection.
When the weather gets nasty in Vermont, it can feel like driving over the surface of the moon. Driving snow and barely passable roads can make travel an adventure in itself. So I added the Emergency Assistance Kit ($75) with booster/jumper cables, tools, and a heat-reflective blanket.
In the end, I got a more rugged version of one of the coolest cars on the road. Not only that, with its leading-edge style and Midnight Black Metallic paint, this Prius had borderline exotic car looks. And coming in at $29,374 (plus destination) it was a striking value.
The 2023 Toyota Prius is an ideal combo of style and technology. Opting for AWD brings all-conditions versatility, and tailored options add durability inside and out. With my build focusing on everyday function and all-weather performance, I ended up with an efficient, hardy vehicle at a reasonable price. The new Prius is a superb all-around package.
