As for vehicles closer in size, the Ford F-150 Lightning is also lighter. More specifically, it’s 2,500 pounds lighter than the Hummer EV, according to The Drive. It is worth noting that the Hummer in question uses a tri-motor drivetrain and the Lightning only a dual-motor setup. That’s where most of the extra weight comes from, even if the battery is a bit bulkier.

All that being said, the big battery and tri-motor setup are there to power this massive vehicle. It takes a lot to get something of this size moving quickly, and that’s precisely what GM was able to do. The truck’s chief engineer once told The Drive that the Hummer EV prototype could pop wheelies. Of course, the automaker needed to stop that before production for safety reasons.

In the end, it’s a 1,000 horsepower pickup truck that can go from 0 to 60 in around 3 seconds. That’s the type of speed and ability that helps it compete with titans like the Tesla Cybertruck of the future. So much so that its speed and features like crab-walking could be why the Cybertruck still isn’t available.
