The Chevrolet Camaro provides a welcome alternative to the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger. However, unlike the Mustang, the Camaro and Challenger are headed to the chopping block. That means the 2023 Camaro is one of your last opportunities for a gas-powered Chevy muscle car. So, how much is a fully-loaded 2023 Chevy Camaro, like a ZL1 or 2SS? 

How much is a fully-loaded 2023 Chevy Camaro?

Potential owners have two options for a fully-loaded 2023 Chevy Camaro. Fans can go with a naturally aspirated muscle car, like the 2SS, or absolute track-day weapon with the Camaro ZL1. A 2023 Chevy Camaro 2SS starts at around $45,695, with several options to swell the price point. For instance, adding RECARO performance seats adds $1,595. Also, Chevrolet offers a 20” wheel option that adds over $2,500 to the starting price. 

Adding a full Design Package can push your fully-loaded 2023 Chevy Camaro 2SS to over $60,000. Moreover, the 2023 Camaro ZL1 Convertible, with its 650-horsepower supercharged 6.2L V8, starts at around $75,695. Adding the track-dominating 1LE package will bump the price up by roughly $7,500. 

What trim packages are on the Camaro?

In addition to the V8-powered 2SS and ZL1, the 2023 Chevy Camaro offers six other trims. According to TrueCar, the entry-level 1LS starts at $27,195, less than a comparable Ford Mustang EcoBoost. Next, the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT offer two engine options and increasing levels of luxury. For instance, the 3LT, which starts at around $33,695, offers a 275-horsepower turbo 2.0L four-cylinder or a 335-horsepower V6 option. 

Moving up to the LT1, 1SS, and 2SS trims equips a 455-horsepower naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 and similarly increasing luxury features. The 1SS, which starts at around $40,695, adds Brembo brakes, a larger touchscreen, and a spoiler over the LT1. 

Is the Chevy Camaro getting discontinued in 2023?

Unlike the Challenger, the Camaro will likely live on past 2023. However, the Ford Mustang is entering yet another generation (S650), and Chevrolet has yet to confirm any plans for its muscle car. That means the 2023 or 2024 Chevrolet Camaro could be some of the last of Chevy’s gas-powered muscle cars. 

Should I buy a Camaro SS or ZL1?

Depending on what you want to do with your Camaro and your budget, the Camaro SS trims might be better for you. For instance, the 1SS packs creature comfort options on top of a 455-horsepower V8. Moreover, the 1SS starts at around $40,695, putting it on par with the Ford Mustang GT. 

However, if you’re willing to spend more for one of the best track-ready muscle cars in history, the Camaro ZL1 is your only option. The ZL1 doesn’t have as much power as a comparable Shelby GT500 or Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Instead, the ZL1 1LE focuses on sharp handling to be one of the fastest American cars ever to lap the Nürburgring.
